Advisor / Transformation Lead

Champaign, Illinois – Hybrid(2-3 days a week onsite)

$100-$120/hr on W2/C2C(all inc.) -(Flex.)

Client is a digital infrastructure business offering broadband connectivity to both multiple dwelling units (“MDU”) and residential (“FTTH”) customers. The business has generally performed well and has experienced solid growth since bringing on its first private equity sponsor in 2024. However, there are challenges holding back continued growth and scalability, and the list of attractive revenue growth and cost-rationalization opportunities on which to execute continues to grow.

The company is consolidating these efforts into a pivotal transformation, spanning business model focus, strategic resets, and operational upgrades across both the MDU and FTTH segments. We seek a seasoned advisor—an individual, not a firm—who brings a track record of driving cross-functional change in telecommunications, fiber, or property-owner services. This leader will partner with ownership and the executive team to diagnose, design, and deliver an initial 12-week sprint plan (with potential for longer engagement), leveraging PMO and change management expertise to instill discipline, cadence, and accountability.

The ideal candidate is later in their career, with experience at a reputable consulting firm and the confidence that comes from having seen and solved issues and opportunities across a range of businesses. Functionally, they will be a multi-tool player—able to toggle between strategic vision and sleeves-rolled-up execution, and to embed durable operating mechanisms (steerco, dashboards, risk/issue management, communications rhythm) that persist beyond their engagement. Familiarity with business model transitions (e.g., JVs, divestitures, strategy reboots, embedding software, etc.), and culture change is essential. The advisor will help reset go-to-market approaches, rationalize tech plays, and support leadership upgrades, all while navigating real-world barriers such as manual processes, outdated systems, and performance gaps.

Candidate profile & logistics

  • 15+ years relevant experience with visible transformations in telecom/fiber/property-owner services; demonstrable PMO build-out and change-management wins
  • Comfort toggling from big-picture design to day-to-day problem solving; evidence of multi-disciplinary impact (commercial + operational + tech/process)
  • Availability for a minimum 6-month engagement with ≥25% on-site presence; able to start quickly
