Amazon Future Engineer - Summer 2026 (US)

By applying to this position, your application will only be considered for our summer Amazon Future Engineer (AFE) roles. Our summer roles have start dates in May/June 2026 and are 12 weeks in duration.

Amazon Future Engineer Scholars! Are you interested in learning more about where a degree in engineering can take you? Amazon Future Engineer wants to help! Our 12-week program provides hands-on learning and building experiences for college freshmen who are making an early commitment to computer science.

As an Amazon Future Engineer (AFE), you will partner closely with your technical mentor, manager, and fellow AFE interns to innovate and create on behalf of our customers. You will gain experience working with exciting technologies and tools unique to Amazon.

As a part of the team, you will have opportunities to learn from and network with Amazon leaders, attend unforgettable events, and create lasting bonds.

Basic qualifications for all AFE interns:
1. Must be a current Amazon Future Engineer scholarship recipient.
2. Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or systems engineering as a first or second undergraduate student enrolled and taking courses at an accredited 4-year university or a 2-year college with the intent to transfer to a 4-year college.
3. Completed CS101 or the equivalent
4. Adept at handling ambiguous or undefined challenges through strong problem solving abilities

HDE qualifications
experience with two or more of the following:
1. Testing hardware/mechanical sub-components
2. Research and data analysis skills
3. Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout best practices

For AFE Scholars aligned to the Software Development Engineer (SDE) track,
Additional qualifications:
1. Intention to declare major in CS by end of Junior year

SDE qualifications:
1) experience in scripting Perl, Python, JavaScript, etc
2) experience in object oriented programming such as Java or C++

1. Seattle / Bellevue / Redmond, WA
2. New York City
3. Arlington / Herndon, VA
4. Austin, TX
5. Sunnyvale / Palo Alto / Santa Clara, CA
