Application Architect – Data Centre - Inside IR35
We’re seeking an experienced Application Architect to support a transformation programme across an enterprise-scale physical data centre environment. The role blends solution architecture, service delivery, and consultative client engagement, helping design, document, and guide the implementation of application solutions across a complex on-premise infrastructure landscape.
The role will require 2-3 days a week in London and will suit locally based candidates. 
Key Responsibilities

• Define and document application architecture for on-premise and hybrid environments.

\n

• Lead design workshops and working sessions with technical and business stakeholders.

\n

• Produce clear architecture artefacts — solution designs, integration diagrams, and transition plans.

\n

• Advise on how applications interact with physical data-centre infrastructure

\n

• Support service delivery alignment — ensuring designs meet operational, performance, and availability needs.

\n

• Provide hands-on consultancy and technical leadership throughout delivery and handover.

\n

Essential Skills & Experience

\n
• Proven experience as an Application or Solution Architect within large, multi-site data-centre environments.

\n

• Strong understanding of physical infrastructure (racks, cabling, servers, networking) and how it supports enterprise applications.

\n

• Knowledge of service delivery principles (incident, change, capacity, availability).

\n

• Excellent documentation and presentation skills.

\n

• Comfortable in client-facing, consultative roles — leading discussions and influencing outcomes.

\n

• Ability to work across technical and non-technical teams to drive consensus.

\n

Desirable

• Experience with data-centre migration or consolidation projects.
