Seeking an Applications Security Engineer for a full-time/perm placement in Colorado Springs. The in-house Applications and Cyber Security team is seeking an individual that has experience in software application development and cyber security.

- This is an onsite position located in Colorado Springs and is not remote
- Position does not require a security clearance, but must be able to get one if needed
- Therefore candidates must be US
- Offered salary range is $150,000 to $180,000
Responsibilities
- Assist customers in migrating their applications to Company's systems
- Migrate third party applications to Company's systems
- Integrate third party hardware, such as CUAS sensors into Company's systems
- Understand the cybersecurity implications associated with the incorporation of non-Company hardware and software into secure systems
- Ability to be an individual contributor as well as supervise a small technical team performing these functions
- Create documented processes and procedures & produce clear technical documentation
Requirements
End-to-End Systems Lifecycle Expertise:
- Demonstrated ability to support the successful design, engineering, implementation, testing, evaluation, and documentation of enterprise IT environments, including servers, operating systems, firmware, applications, virtual environments, and software development ecosystems.
Infrastructure & Architecture Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of data centers, virtualization, cloud and software-defined environments, including system integration, deployment, synchronization, and performance optimization across distributed architectures.
Data Management & Resiliency:
- Experience with data storage solutions, migration strategies, backup/recovery, and redundancy planning, including implementation of high availability and failover across geographically diverse data centers.
- Knowledge of data access controls and protection mechanisms for both data in transit and data at rest.
Cybersecurity & Compliance Alignment:
- Working knowledge of Department of War (DoW) cybersecurity standards (e.g., STIGs) and applicable commercial cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, CIS benchmarks).
- Ability to support system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and secure configuration of servers, operating systems, firmware, and applications.
Collaboration with Security Leadership:
- Willingness and ability to work closely with the CIO/CISO and cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance, risk mitigation, continuous monitoring, and audit readiness, including participation in security assessments and tracking/implementing remediation efforts.
Application Deployment, Connectivity and Networking:
- Strong background in diagnosing and resolving connectivity, networking and performance issues surrounding application deployment. Expertise with Wireshark and other analysis and troubleshooting tools.
Software & Application Environment Experience:
- Familiarity with software development environments, DevOps practices, virtualized/containerized platforms, and deployment pipelines, ensuring secure and scalable application delivery. Experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
