This role offers the prospect of supporting the development, deployment, and maintenance of our proprietary, microservices-based enterprise application used in federal government environments. In this role, you will have the opportunity to code, debug, test, and troubleshoot application functionality while supporting deployments across U.S. federal hosting centers, AWS cloud environments, and TurningPoint’s internal data center.
Additionally, this position offers the opportunity to work with modern Java-based development tools, Big Data technologies, and a wide range of DevOps, infrastructure, and security frameworks while contributing to both new feature enhancements and ongoing application support
Location:  Rockville, MD with hybrid option.  Your Role and Impact:

  • Work in a team environment to develop and provide application maintenance and operational support for a large enterprise application.
  • Collaborate with product managers, business analysts, and delivery teams to support production issues and enhancement requests.
  • Troubleshoot defects, determine root causes, and deliver software patches with quick turnaround.
  • Implement solutions that improve application performance, security, and maintainability.
  • Perform continuous security assessment and deploy risk-mitigation controls.
  • Configure CI/CD pipelines and continuous monitoring tools.
  • Prepare deployment packages including builds and all required deployment documentation.
  • Support deployment in both on-premises and AWS cloud environments.
  • Implement cloud infrastructure as code (IaC) and support AWS cost-optimization activities.
  • Develop SOP documentation and runbooks for repeatable operational tasks.
  • Perform server hardening based on CIS Benchmarks and DISA STIG requirements.
  • Develop technical documentation, operational workflows, and security policies that align with federal IT standards such as FISMA and FedRAMP.
  • Conduct vulnerability and compliance scans, analyze findings, and validate remediation.
  • Ensure adherence to TurningPoint’s CMMI Maturity Level 5 processes and procedures.

Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience supporting and deploying enterprise-level Java applications in production environments.
  • Strong coding and debugging experience using Java, JSP, SQL, XML, JavaScript, JQuery, Spring, Hibernate, and ETL technologies.
  • Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL — including DDL/DML scripting, performance tuning, and large-dataset analysis.
  • Experience with Jenkins build automation and static code analysis tools such as OWASP ZAP, Dependency-Check, FindBugs, PMD, and SonarQube.
  • Hands-on experience with WildFly or JBoss application servers.
  • Strong Unix/Linux background including shell scripting, advanced command usage, and monitoring tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Skills:

  • Oracle Certified Java Programmer is a strong plus.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
  • AWS cloud experience; AWS certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with FISMA, FedRAMP, and NIST 800-53 security controls.
  • Experience with SAML-based Single Sign-On and Active Directory integration.
  • Experience working with GSA telecom contracts, telecom carrier APIs, or service ordering platforms.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML models or blockchain technologies.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $78,000 to $108,000.  This range is a general guideline only as compensation decisions are based on relevant experience and qualifications.
