Role Summary
Assemblers build and finish components that become custom server racks, poly panels, and related data center products. You will read job instructions and visual aids, assemble parts to spec, and use basic hand and power tools to support high-mix, high-quality production.
This is an on-floor role on first or second shift in a union environment.
Standard hours
- 1st shift: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
- 2nd shift: 3:30 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. for second shift.
- Current overtime patterns can include 10-hour days starting at 5:00 a.m. and A/B Saturdays every other week from 5:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. per staffing needs.
Key Performance Objectives
First 30 Days
- Learn safety practices, PPE, and workstation housekeeping standards.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance and on-time starts aligned to shift requirements.
- Complete onboarding for Epicor job clocking and basic data recording.
- Assemble parts on one station to takt and quality targets using visual aids.
First 60 Days
- Rotate through a second station in Assembly SL Paint and meet daily output and first-pass yield goals.
- Show proficiency with gauges and basic inspection steps to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Maintain clean, organized work areas while minimizing material waste.
First 90 Days
- Cross-train on a third operation or offline assembly process and sustain rate and quality without close supervision.
- Accurately mark, package, and move completed assemblies per routing and identification standards.
- Meet or exceed daily attendance and schedule commitments, including overtime or AB Saturdays when required.
First 12 Months (365 Days)
- Be a go-to assembler across multiple stations with consistent quality, safety, and throughput.
- Support training of new hires on one operation and share best practices that reduce rework and scrap.
- Contribute to on-time delivery for data center racks and containment builds that power AI and high-density computing.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety and Workplace Readiness
- Follow PPE and safe lifting practices and maintain a clean, hazard-free area.
- Start up and shut down basic equipment properly and report defects immediately.
- Assemble components using manual and pneumatic tools to approved specifications and visual aids.
- Use gauges, visual checks, and basic inspection to ensure conformance and mark parts for identification.
- Load, unload, and move parts via carts, dollies, and conveyors; package finished goods.
- Log in and out of jobs in Epicor and record simple production data accurately.
- Cross-train on additional stations within Assembly SL Paint; assist peers and new hires as requested.
- Recommend simple tooling or process improvements to reduce waste.
Must-Have Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Willingness to learn and follow manufacturing instructions, blueprints, and visual aids.
- Basic math, communication skills, and reliable attendance.
- Comfort using hand and power tools and working on your feet through a full shift.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and grasp up to 35 lbs. and perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience in metal fabrication or assembly environments.
- Familiarity with Epicor or similar manufacturing systems.
- Spot weld exposure or interest in cross-training.
