About the Opportunity

A highly respected Chicago-based general contractor is launching a dedicated Mission Critical division and is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join the team during its early growth phase.

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to Mission Critical and highly MEP-intensive projects while working on local Chicago and Illinois projects. You’ll support senior project leadership and gain hands-on experience within a division being built from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers and Superintendents in the execution of Mission Critical projects
  • Assist with project documentation, submittals, RFIs, and change management
  • Help track project schedules, budgets, and cost reports
  • Coordinate with trade partners, vendors, and consultants
  • Participate in owner and subcontractor meetings
  • Support commissioning, closeout, and turnover activities

Ideal Background

  • 2–5 years of experience in construction project management or project engineering
  • Experience with a general contractor
  • Exposure to MEP-intensive, healthcare, industrial, or technical projects a plus
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Interest in building a long-term career in Mission Critical construction

Location & Travel

  • Chicago, IL
  • Local projects throughout Chicagoland and Illinois
  • No extensive travel required
