With a strong presence across the UK and Ireland, the business is known for its collaborative culture, technical excellence, and commitment to developing its people through long-term career opportunities and continuous learning.\n\nAbout the role:\n\nDue to continued growth in the company, a new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer in Edinburgh, to join a growing and highly respected team, in a predominantly office-based role, working on major projects throughout the UK and Europe.

This role will involve developing and delivering designs to facilitate safe and compliant installations on site.\n\nMain Responsibilities:\n\nDesigning in conjunction with fire strategy reports, local building regulations & planning authority requirements.\nAttending Design team meetings.\nCarrying out site surveys of existing installations where applicable.\nProducing heating/cooling (thermal modelling) and ventilation load calculations using industry software\nSizing and selection of AHUs, FCUs, extract fans, pumps, chillers, ASHP, boilers, plate heat exchangers etc\nProducing above ground drainage calculations and sizing of drainage systems\nSizing and selection of domestic hot and cold-water equipment (heaters, storage tanks etc)\nProducing pipe and duct sizing calculations using industry software or other desktop spreadsheets\nSizing and selection of firefighting sprinkler and pumping systems ( but not essential)\nProducing stage reports & presentations.\nPreparing Designers Risk Assessment and Mitigation Reports\nDetailing mechanical layouts & schematics for build.\nMeeting project delivery deadlines.\nProduction of detailed design and survey reports.\nWhat you'll need to succeed:\n\nExtensive experience in the Mechanical Engineering building services for construction\nMechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent\nGood knowledge of CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS &EN Irish, UK standards or ASHRAE.\nWorking knowledge of design software such as Hevacomp, Carrier HAP, CyMap, IES/TAS required\nAbility to work in a rapidly changing environment.\nStrong communication skills\nWhat you'll get in return:\n\nHighly competitive salary\nProfessional Development support\nEmployee Assistance Program\nHealth and Wellness programs\nBike to work scheme\nWhat you need to do now\n\nIf you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV.\nIf this job isn't quite right for you, but you are looking for a new position, please contact us using the details below for a confidential discussion about your career:\n\nEmail: \nMobile No. (phone number removed)\n\nHays Specialist Recruitment Limited acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
