Description
Xpressdocs is looking for a skilled and experienced Level 2/3 Support Technician to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who is ready to transition from Support to Systems Administration. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in supporting, configuring, and maintaining Xpressdocs IT server infrastructure. This environment consists of both physical and virtual servers, across multiple data centers and cloud environments.
The right candidate for this role is a self-motivated individual who likes solving challenging problems, is a voracious learner, and has a best practices mindset. The candidate should possess a strong sense of urgency, the ability to multitask in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and believe that teamwork is an essential component to success. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are required.
Responsibilities
System Administration
- Manage and maintain server hardware and associated storage infrastructure.
- Manage and maintain virtualized environments (VMware), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Assist in performing routine system updates, patches, and security configurations.
- Develop automation scripts to improve system management tasks using tools like PowerShell.
Support and Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues.
- Monitor system performance and ensure the availability and reliability of the infrastructure.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for systems, configurations, and procedures.
Security and Compliance:
- Ensure systems comply with organizational policies, industry standards, and best practices.
- Assist in audits, risk assessments.
Collaboration & Project Management
- Participate in infrastructure projects, migrations, and infrastructure expansions.
- Provide input into system architecture design and future technology planning.
- Collaborate with other members of the IT team to ensure smooth and efficient incident resolution and problem management.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 2-year IT degree or equivalent technical work experience in IT Support Level 2/3.
- Hands-on experience with Server, and Storage hardware.
- Hands-on experience with Windows and/or Linux server operating systems.
- Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, including vCenter.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Active Directory, including Azure AD.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration, Exchange Online, MS Teams.
- Knowledge of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP configurations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and keep abreast of the technological advances.
- Sense of urgency and ability to multitask in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- A critical thinker with strong work ethic, team player, innovative, proactive, and resourceful.
Skills and Qualifications
- Technical certifications, such as CompTIA Network+, Security+.
- Familiarity with AWS, or other cloud/virtualization technologies.
- Familiarity with logging/monitoring tools such as SolarWinds Orion, Syslog, or similar.
- Familiarity with physical and virtual data center operations in a multi-vendor environment.
- Familiarity with Raspberry Pi hardware.
- Familiarity with Cisco routers/switches, and FortiGate firewalls.
Physical Requirements
- The ability to lift 50 lbs
- The ability to sit at a desk up to 80% of the time.
- The ability to stand and walk up to 20% of the time.
- The ability to ascend and descend ladders.
- The ability to move throughout all departments including production areas.
- The ability to be confined in a small area, such as a cubical.
- The ability to operate phones and computers.
