Bosch Building Technologies Integrator Business
The regional system integration business called Bosch Building Technologies offers solutions and customized services for building security, energy efficiency, and building automation for commercial buildings and infrastructure projects Bosch started its Integrator Business in North America through the acquisition of Climatec in 2015. Climatec expanded Bosch’s role as a comprehensive supplier of energy, building automation and security solutions. Climatec is recognized in the building industry as an independent single-source integrator of critical building systems including energy services, building automation and security & life safety in the U.S. market. The company provides consulting, planning, implementation and 24/7 remote management. Climatec is active in several market segments and industries including data centers, commercial real estate buildings, and federal, state, and local government. Climatec has operated as an independent entity, maintaining its offices in Arizona, California, Nevada, Texas, New York, and New Jersey. Climatec continues to represent and integrate numerous leading manufactures’ product lines across its wide range of services, including Bosch products. In 2023, Bosch acquired Canadian-based security integrator Paladin Technologies. Merging Paladin Technologies and Climatec will significantly expand Bosch’s Integrator Business in North America. Job Summary: Design Specialist Senior is responsible for designing building automation and controls projects that meet contractual scope, budget, and performance requirements. This role develops detailed sequences of operation, interprets project documents and estimates, selects compatible equipment, and creates complete bills of material. The position independently designs large and complex projects, prepares construction plans and RFIs, and communicates effectively with internal teams, consulting engineers, contractors, and building owners. Additional responsibilities include labor forecasting, mentoring junior engineers, contributing to engineering standards, and recommending new products or solutions that improve value and functionality.
Responsibilities:
- Design Controls projects to meet scope of work and budget as defined by contract documents and sales estimate ensuring equipment compatibility.
- Provide detailed sequence of operations.
- Interpret project documents, estimate, and other information as available to select the proper equipment to achieve the scope of work required in the most economical and functional manner.
- Accurately forecast necessary labor required to engineer a complete project and track this over time to achieve budget and forecast goals.
- Communicate with internal employees as required to ensure engineering is accurate and timely.
- Communicate with external organizations as required such as consulting engineers, building owners, and other contractors to ensure accurate and timely engineering.
- Complete Bill of Material for every project.
- Suggest/recommend new products that provide better functionality and value to projects.
- Generate Request for Information (RFIs) to clarify design issues and recommend appropriate solutions as necessary.
- Create detailed plans to show electricians and system specialists sensor locations
- Demonstrated ability to independently design large and complex projects with minimal oversight.
- As assigned develop and maintain a library of engineering standards for both Climatec and the industry.
- Provides mentorship to Level I and Level II team members.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 8 - 10 years of experience in HVAC/building automation design.
- Basic understanding of computer systems, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Experience designing, and engineering HVAC control systems, including developing sequence of operations and equipment selection.
- Proficiency with reading and creating layout drawings to guide system installation (e.g., sensor locations, panel placement.
- Ability to develop Bills of Material (BOM).
- An understanding of Autocad and/or Visio for BAS Design
- Familiarity with generating and managing RFIs (Requests for Information) to resolve design issues.
- Strong understanding of project documents, scopes of work, and the ability to interpret contract drawings and specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical plans.
- The ability to read electrical wiring diagrams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate and resolve issues empathetically and professionally.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related technical field. Experience in the BAS field can supersede a degree.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in HVAC/building automation design.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or Visio
- Thorough understanding of HVAC operations, particularly within commercial or industrial facilities.
- Proposing cost-effective technical solutions.
- Experience interacting with external stakeholders, such as consulting engineers, contractors, and building owners.
- Experience maintaining or contributing to internal standards, libraries, or best practices for system design and engineering.
- Background in both design and ongoing support/service engineering for installed building systems

Additional Information:
- Compensation: $115,000 - $125,000
- Working Hours: This position generally works Monday- Friday, overtime and on call when necessary
