Corporate Summary
SolMicroGrid is expanding into the large-scale private-power and distributed-energy sector. We are actively developing our first two projects in Arkansas and Texas, with additional projects planned as we scale our platform across high-growth data center regions. These projects utilize high-reliability, fossil-fuel-based , with the ability to incorporate carbon-reduction technologies, waste-heat utilization, and other systems depending on customer requirements and project design.
To support this growth, SolMicroGrid is seeking a Business Development Director (or Senior Manager) focused on origination and offtake development with data center operators, including AI, hyperscale, edge, high performance computing and digital-infrastructure customers.
This individual will play a critical leadership role in securing commercial commitments for SolMicroGrid’s emerging portfolio and will work directly with senior management to shape long-term strategy.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead origination and commercial engagement with data center developers, hyperscalers, AI compute operators and high-performance computing users.
• Build and manage a pipeline of offtake opportunities for SolMicroGrid’s first two projects in Arkansas and Texas, as well as additional developments planned in other U.S. markets.
• Position SolMicroGrid’s power solutions—featuring fossil-fuel-based with optional carbon-reduction or clean-energy integrations—as reliable, scalable, and cost-effective alternatives for large-load customers.
• Develop tailored value propositions related to reliability, modular deployment, long-term price stability, power usage effectiveness optimization, waste-heat or cooling integration, and optional DER add-ons (e.g., BESS).
• Work closely with internal teams to structure PPAs, long-term energy service agreements, and take-or-pay arrangements aligned with customer requirements.
• Monitor data center siting activity, interconnection studies, power-market dynamics, cooling innovations, and regional economic development trends.
• Represent SolMicroGrid at industry conferences, customer events, and strategic meetings across the U.S.
• Collaborate with development, engineering, finance, and regulatory teams to align commercial commitments with technical and permitting pathways.
• Support the creation of customer-facing materials, presentations, and outreach strategies.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required (Engineering, Business, Finance, Energy, or related fields); advanced degree (MBA or technical Master’s) .
• 7–15+ years of experience in business development, power origination, data center solutions, or large-load energy markets.
• Demonstrated relationships within AI/data center ecosystems, including hyperscalers, digital-infrastructure developers, high performance computing operators or site selectors.
• Strong understanding of fossil-fuel , reliability metrics, emissions considerations, ESG-driven power procurement, and optional clean-energy integrations (e.g., carbon capture, waste-heat utilization, BESS).
• Proven ability to translate technical features into compelling commercial value propositions.
• Exceptional communication skills and comfort interacting with C-suite executives and technical stakeholders.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate in a fast-moving, growth-oriented environment.
• Willingness to travel regularly to project sites and for business development activities.
• Deep expertise in the technical, regulatory, and commercial aspects of natural gas power plant development and its specific application to provide highly resilient power for digital infrastructure.
