Business Development Manager – Plastics/Injection Molding (Remote, Detroit )
Base: $120,000–$125,000 + $30–40K Commission | OTE $150K–$160K+ | Full Benefits

About the Role:
My client is a major plastics injection molding business ($75–80M revenue) recognized for their flexibility, technical breadth (thermoplastic, thermoset, two-shot, overmolding, and secondary operations), and direct connections to senior leadership. With a motivated and supportive team, my client offers both the agility of a smaller organization and the impact of a market leader—backed by private equity and primed for significant growth (and a potential sale in 2–3 years).
What You'll Do:
- Take ownership of and grow an existing customer portfolio, primarily located in Detroit and Chicago
- Drive approximately $2M in new business landed annually, focusing on key sectors: automotive (70%), lawn/garden, industrial, medical, renewable energy, data centers, and drone manufacturing
- Build relationships with Tier 1 customers and engage directly with engineers on technical requirements and value solutions
- Enjoy a strong support system, including a comprehensive handover from a departing account manager and access to in-house/rep-group resources
- Work independently and remotely, with periodic, fully expensed travel to clients and manufacturing facilities
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base salary range: $120,000–$125,000 (DOE), plus realistic $30,000–$40,000 annual commission (total earnings: $150,000–$160,000+)
- Commission structure: 25% paid at award, 75% on production—enabling fast earning potential, especially with takeover business

What You'll Bring:
- Minimum 5 years experience in plastics/injection molding sales or account management (automotive, lawn/garden, industrial, renewable, or medical markets strongly )
- Proven ability to manage and grow major accounts while driving substantial new business
- Technical proficiency to converse with engineers, review cost breakdowns, and oversee the sales process independently
- Highly self-driven, results-oriented, and comfortable working in a remote set-up
