Job DescriptionJob Description
Join Wolter Power Systems, the authorized industrial distributor for Generac Power Systems across Wisconsin and Upper Michigan.
We’re looking for a driven, market-facing Business Development Specialist to expand our presence in standby power, prime power, rental power, and aftermarket solutions. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role focused on creating new revenue streams, developing under-penetrated accounts, and strengthening our brand across mission-critical industries.
If you thrive on building relationships, identifying opportunity where others don’t, and turning strategy into measurable growth — this is your role.
Position Summary
The Business Development Specialist is responsible for identifying, creating, and closing new power systems opportunities within a defined geographic territory. This role focuses on developing new customers and expanding existing accounts that are not receiving coverage consistent with their full potential.
You will represent the full Power Systems portfolio — generators, transfer switches, switchgear, rental solutions, service agreements, and aftermarket parts — while cultivating long-term, profitable partnerships.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Market Growth & Opportunity Creation
- Identify, uncover, and develop new standby and prime power opportunities across commercial, industrial, healthcare, municipal, and contractor markets.
- Drive strategic territory penetration using a structured coverage and account development plan.
- Prospect aggressively within underserved or high-growth vertical markets.
- Build and manage a robust opportunity pipeline.
Account Development
- Cultivate executive-level and project-level relationships with contractors, engineers, facility managers, municipalities, and end users.
- Position Wolter as the power solutions partner — not just an equipment provider.
- Expand share-of-wallet within existing accounts.
Strategic Collaboration
- Partner closely with Inside Sales, Service, Parts, Engineering, and Project Management to deliver complete power solutions.
- Leverage internal technical expertise to differentiate our value in competitive situations.
- Maintain strong communication across departments to ensure seamless execution.
Brand & Industry Presence
- Represent Wolter at trade shows, industry events, and networking functions.
- Stay current on competitive offerings, emerging technologies, and industry trends.
- Promote the full Wolter Power Systems portfolio in alignment with company growth strategy.
Sales Discipline & Reporting
- Maintain accurate CRM data including calls, opportunities, forecasts, and mileage.
- Submit monthly forecasts, pipeline reviews, and lost order analysis.
- Meet or exceed established revenue, margin, and growth targets.
What Success Looks Like
- Consistent new account acquisition
- Expansion of high-value vertical markets
- Strong forecast accuracy and pipeline health
- Growth in equipment, rental, service, and parts revenue
- Trusted advisor status with key regional customers
What You Bring
- Associate’s Degree in Sales & Marketing or equivalent B2B sales experience.
- Proven track record of developing new business and achieving measurable growth targets.
- Demonstrated ability to build long-term, profitable business relationships.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial equipment (power experience ).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and plan over a 12-month sales cycle.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
- Strong computer proficiency (CRM and Microsoft Office).
- Valid driver’s license with a strong driving record.
- Relentless drive, urgency, and ownership mindset.
Experience
- Experience in industrial power , electrical distribution, or capital equipment sales.
- Familiarity with generator systems, ATS, and switchgear applications.
- Experience selling into contractors, engineers, healthcare systems, municipalities, or data centers.
Why This Role Matters
Power is mission critical. Hospitals, manufacturers, municipalities, and critical infrastructure depend on reliable backup and prime power systems. Your work directly impacts uptime, safety, and economic stability across Wisconsin and Upper Michigan.
This isn’t transactional sales — it’s strategic growth in an essential industry.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Frequent standing, walking, speaking, and presenting.
- Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Regular travel within assigned territory.
- Exposure to shop environments and customer job sites where PPE may be required.
- Primarily field-based with administrative responsibilities.
