Position Overview

The Buyer II position is responsible for buying materials for the SubCom Manufacturing facility as well as supporting the ordering of equipment and services to meet the needs of the production of SubCom manufacturing. Timely and accurate ordering is imperative to ensure goods and services arrive on schedule to meet the demands of production. This position reports to the Purchasing Manager and is located in Newington, NH.

Responsibilities

  • Works within the ERP system (Oracle) to create purchase orders from planned/approved requisitions
  • \n

  • Negotiates with suppliers to drive cost reduction efforts and finalize contracts
  • \n

  • Prepares "Requests for Quotations" to ensure competitive pricing
  • \n

  • Develops and maintain spreadsheets to support complex quotations and purchase orders
  • \n

  • Expedites long-lead material orders to support production changes
  • \n

  • Generates appropriate correspondence within the facility and with suppliers to support purchasing activities
  • \n

  • Participates in regular Supply Chain meetings and interfaces with all departments to resolve any problemsand/or issues
  • \n

  • Reviews Vendor Open Order Reports weekly
  • \n

  • Regularly contacts vendors with discrepancies with quality and/or quality
  • \n

  • Ensures compliance with purchasing policies and procedures, ethical practices and adherence to relevant lawsand regulations
  • \n

  • Develops weekly, monthly and quarterly reports in support of SubCom's LEAN activities
  • \n

  • Accepts increased responsibility and is accountable for their actions
  • \n

  • Promotes job and process improvement as it relates to the department (through 5S as well as otherimprovement initiatives)
  • \n

  • Responds to multiple purchasing assignments in a timely and efficient manner
  • \n

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Consistently ensures that business is always conducted with integrity and that behavior aligns with SubCompolicies, procedures, and core values

Qualifications

Qualifications

    \n
  • Associate's degree required, preferably in a business or technical field
  • \n

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience and/or training required
  • \n

  • APICS training desirable. Small Business Administration or Conflict Minerals knowledge also beneficial
  • \n

  • Ability to conduct business in a professional manner at all times and to be cooperative and service oriented
  • \n

  • A team player with a positive and professional attitude who is willing and eager to learn
  • \n

  • Must be able to: multitask, be flexible, handle high-pressure situations, have strict attention to detail, work in aclose-knit team oriented fast paced atmosphere
  • \n

  • Flexibility and can-do attitude to manage unexpected situations successfully
  • \n

  • Ability to deal professionally with internal and external customers
  • \n

  • Ability to travel to other SubCom or supplier locations, up to 10%
  • \n

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Lync, PowerPoint)

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • \n

  • Ability to speak, read and write English fluently
  • \n
