On-Call ITAD / Data Destruction Technician
Job Description
Data Slayer is looking for an experienced On-Call ITAD / Data Destruction Technician to support operations at our San Leandro, CA facility.
\n
This is an on-call, as-needed position. There is no guaranteed weekly schedule. The technician will be contacted when additional support is needed based on incoming projects and workload.
\n
Responsibilities:
\n
• Perform data wiping and sanitization of HDDs, SSDs, servers, laptops, and other IT equipment
\n
• Operate data destruction equipment and assist with physical destruction of data-bearing devices
\n
• Test, sort, and process IT assets
\n
• Identify and record manufacturer, model, serial number, and other asset information
\n
• Assist with receiving, inventory, palletizing, and processing equipment
\n
• Maintain accurate records and follow chain-of-custody procedures
\n
• Follow Data Slayer's security, safety, and data handling procedures
\n
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
\n
• Occasionally support onsite customer projects when needed
\n
Qualifications:
\n
• Previous experience in ITAD, electronics recycling, data destruction, computer hardware, data centers, or a related field
\n
• Familiarity with HDDs, SSDs, servers, laptops, and enterprise IT equipment
\n
• Experience with data wiping/sanitization is strongly
\n
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record serial numbers and asset information
\n
• Dependable and able to work independently
\n
• Comfortable performing physical work and handling IT equipment
\n
• Flexible availability for on-call assignments
\n
Knowledge of NIST SP 800-88, data sanitization methods, drive testing, server hardware, or IT asset processing is a plus.
