Position Summary:
The Campus Environmental, Health & Safety Senior Manager at Applied Digital is the Environmental, Health & Safety leader on-site over the Applied Digital construction projects and multiple hyperscale Data Center operations. This position reports to the Sr EH&S Director with a strong dotted line to the Construction Director and Operations Director on site.
This role is both strategic and hands-on, overseeing the development, execution, and continuous improvement of our management system meeting the intent of ISO 14001 & 45001 requirements and technical environmental, health and safety programs.
This role will involve managing direct reports and driving alignment across contractors, field teams, and Applied Digital leadership. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in implementing EH&S management systems, ensuring compliance with environmental requirements and large-scale construction safety programs, particularly in complex or high-risk environments such as hyperscale data center builds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation, enforcement, and evolution of Applied Digital’s Construction Safety program across all phases of site activity across the campus.
- Collaborate with general contractors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to integrate safety expectations into pre-construction planning, execution schedules, and site operations.
- Manage the filing for of key Environmental permits and maintaining compliance with environmental regulatory requirements.
- Supervise and mentor on-site safety personnel, including coordinators and specialists, ensuring proper coverage, professional development, and world class EH&S performance.
- Implement an EH&S management system at the campus including conducting routine site inspections, risk assessments, and audits to proactively identify hazards and enforce corrective actions.
- Serve as the incident commander for any safety-related event, managing investigations, documentation, root cause analysis, and escalation to executive leadership.
- Deliver and oversee jobsite training including orientations, toolbox talks, task-specific instruction, and emergency drills.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA, local/state regulations, and industry best practices while guiding site teams through regulatory inspections and third-party reviews.
- Maintain accurate and timely safety documentation including JHAs, safety plans, incident logs, training records, permits, and SWPPP requirements.
- Lead weekly safety meetings and site-wide stand-downs, fostering an open dialogue between safety teams, field leadership, and tradespeople.
- Analyze safety trends and performance metrics to identify gaps, track KPIs, and inform continuous improvement efforts across the organization.
- Represent Applied Digital’s values and standards in field-level leadership discussions, project update meetings, and contractor engagement efforts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of progressive Environmental, Health & Safety experience in commercial, industrial, or mission-critical construction environments.
- Demonstrated success leading field-based safety teams on projects exceeding $100M in value or 500+ workers in peak manpower.
- Deep working knowledge of OSHA 1926 & 1910, NFPA 70E, and ANSI standards applicable to general industry, heavy construction and electrical infrastructure.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to influence, enforce, and drive accountability across contractor organizations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience reporting to executive leadership and regulatory bodies.
- Proficiency with Environmental, Health & Safety management platforms (i.e., KPA, Intelex, Procore Safety, iAuditor, Predictive Solutions) and Microsoft Office tools.
- Ability to respond quickly and calmly in high-pressure or emergency situations.
Qualifications
- MBA or master's degree in related field.
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification (OSHA 500 )
- Professional safety credential such as CSP, or CHMM
- Experience supporting SWPPP implementation and environmental compliance
- Background working in hyperscale data centers or MEP-intensive construction environments
- Prior experience coordinating with owner’s representatives and third-party consultants

Physical Requirements
Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, walk construction sites, climb ladders or stairs, and lift/carry up to 30 lbs. as needed. Daily use of required PPE including safety glasses, hard hat, high-visibility vest, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
