POSITION OVERVIEW
INTERNAL: Maintain effective working relations by working closely with other Central Office Technicians, Customer Service team, Field Service Technicians, and others. Must establish and maintain an excellent team-oriented relationship with all other FirstLight Departments as well. Willing to be a team player and demonstrate consideration for the needs of others.
EXTERNAL: Responds to customers and communities with a positive approach to ensure positive public relations.
Reports to the Manager of ILEC Operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Candidate will have experience in all aspects of Central Office operations. Extensive DMS-10 switch training and abilities a definite plus.
- Must be highly organized and capable of developing switch programming that will provide reliable communications for our customers in a reasonable time cycle.
- Working knowledge of Ethernet and IP principals expected.
- Must have strong work ethic, be well organized and reliable.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
- Ability to communicate professionally through all types of media with customers, managers, associates, and contractors.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-starter, self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Possess excellent time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Flexible and able to switch gears.
- Ability to effectively handle change.
- Must be extremely customer focused
- Able to keep a positive attitude in stressful situations
- Must be able to rotate through a weekly on-call list
- Must possess a clean Maine Driver’s License.
- Must pass drug testing and criminal and driving record background checks.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Central Office Technician experience a plus.
- Computer knowledge.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must have valid and unencumbered driving license.
- LIGHT DUTY ASSIGNMENTS This position can be performed under light duty restrictions.
