Located in Endicott, NY, the Huron Campus—a Phoenix Investors property—hosts a diverse range of industries powered by a central utility plant (CUP) delivering steam, chilled water, compressed air, and heated glycol.

Position Summary:

The Central Utility Plant (CUP) Planner is responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing maintenance, outages, and capital work activities within a central utility plant. The Planner is also responsible for the training and documentation program. This role ensures the reliable, efficient, and safe operation of utility systems, such as steam, chilled water, compressed air, and glycol, by developing detailed work plans, schedules, and resource forecasts. The planner serves as a key liaison between operations, maintenance, engineering, contractors, and management.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed maintenance and outage work plans for central utility plant systems, including mechanical, electrical, and controls equipment
  • Plan preventive, predictive, corrective, and capital maintenance activities to minimize downtime and operational risk
  • Maintain and improve the staff training and documentation program
  • Coordinate planned outages with operations, facilities, and stakeholders to maintain continuity of service
  • Collaborate with operations and engineering to optimize asset reliability and lifecycle performance
  • Maintain and update work orders, asset records, and maintenance plans within the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Forecast labor, material, and contractor needs to support maintenance and capital work
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements, risk reduction, and cost savings
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, local codes, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare, higher education, data center, or large campus utility environments
  • Working knowledge of central utility plant systems (boilers, chillers, turbines, pumps, electrical distribution, controls)
  • Experience with CMMS software and maintenance planning best practices
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, one-line diagrams, and technical drawings
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar productivity tools
