- Install, configure, and upgrade network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and servers.
- Implement network segmentation, VLANs, routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), and QoS policies.
- Deploy and manage network cabling (copper and fiber optic) and patching.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and utilization using network monitoring tools.
- Perform routine maintenance, firmware upgrades, and security patching on network devices.
- Conduct regular network audits to ensure compliance with security policies and standards.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, inventories, and configuration baselines
- Diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues, performance problems, and security incidents.
- Provide advanced technical support to end-users and other IT staff for network-related issues.
- Utilize network analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark) to identify root causes of complex problems.
- Participate in on-call rotation for critical network incidents, if required.
- Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and access control lists (ACLs).
- Assist in developing and enforcing network security policies and procedures.
- Respond to and mitigate network security alerts and incidents.
- Diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues, performance problems, and security incidents
- Provide advanced technical support to end-users and other IT staff for network-related issues
- Utilize network analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark) to identify root causes of complex problems.
- Participate in on-call rotation for critical network incidents, if required.
- Collaborate with IT teams (e.g., server, help desk, security) to ensure seamless integration and operation of IT systems.
- Participate in IT projects related to network expansion, upgrades, and new technology rollouts.
- Provide input on network design and architecture improvements.
- Education:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
- Required Certifications
- CompTIA Network +
- : One or more current and relevant industry certifications such as
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Juniper Networks Certified Associate (JNCIA)
- Other relevant certifications (e.g., Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto Networks PCNSA)
- :Higher-level certifications such as:
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- CompTIA Security+
- Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) - for security-focused roles
- Physical Recruitments
- Ability to lift and move network equipment (up to 50 lbs, if applicable).
- May require working in server rooms or data centers.
