Gordon has a dedicated Water Resources Team, providing services in the following areas: stormwater management design (land development applications), stormwater construction inspections, stormwater operation and maintenance, floodplain analysis and permitting, and dam breach analysis and permitting.
This Opportunity
Gordon is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Water Resources Team within our Chantilly, VA office. A resume and cover letter are requested.
This individual will have the opportunity to work on stormwater management design, construction, and maintenance operations on a wide variety of new development and re-development projects. Our projects implement a wide variety of stormwater management facilities, such as bioretentions, green roofs, permeable pavements, ponds, manufactured treatment devices, and underground detention facilities.
This position offers excellent opportunities for professional growth in a work atmosphere that strives for excellence and emphasizes teamwork. This position also offers the opportunity to grow into the other Water Resources team service offerings, including hydrology and hydraulic modeling in support of floodplain and dam projects.
Technical Design Opportunities
· Prepare construction documents for new and redevelopment projects, including maps, computations, narratives, construction details, and specifications
· Design all types of SWM facilities, including design on multi-phased development projects
· Conduct construction observations for all types of SWM facilities and other related construction administration
· Develop and execute stormwater operation and maintenance programs for entities owning large SWM assets
General Job Responsibilities
- Production of final construction documents
- Develop stormwater management concept plans
- Conduct construction and maintenance inspections
- Review construction administration
- Develop local and state permit applications
- Prepare technical reports
- Research regulatory codes, manuals, and standards
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Meet and coordinate with regulators to address comments and facilitate approval
- Communicate effectively with team members
- Manage clients and develop project schedules / workplans
- Perform other duties as required
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 2+ years in the land development field
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or similar degree
- Advanced Autocad skills
- Strong mathematical/analytical skills
- Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills
- Strong quality control skills and attention to detail
Qualifications
- Engineer-in-training certification
- Professional Engineer license
- Proficiency with H & H modeling software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HEC-1, HY-8, Flowmaster
- Proficiency with ArcMap, or similar
