1) Purpose of Role
Lead civil crews as an entry-level leader under the Civil General Foreman, coordinating daily work, mentoring craft, and managing documentation and communication in Procore. Allocate resources to plan, adapt to changing conditions (weather, deliveries, personnel), and uphold safety, quality, and schedule standards.
2) Scope & Decision Rights
Supervise safe task execution, track daily quantities and as-builts, conduct toolbox talks/JHAs, and coordinate look-ahead needs with the superintendent/PM.
3) Essential Duties and Standards
Owns:
Coordinating daily tasks according to priorities and plans; adjusting for weather, supply, delivery, and personnel changes.
Delegating individual responsibilities and projects to crew members and contractors with clear durations and quality expectations.
Training, managing, and mentoring employees and contractors; leading toolbox talks and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
Providing adequate resources, PPE, permits, and equipment readiness to meet schedule, safety, and quality requirements.
Emphasizing safe use of tools, machinery, and equipment; enforcing traffic control and trenching/shoring practices.
Maintaining a daily log for job-site specific operations in Procore with photos, quantities, and notes.
Supports:
Civil General Foreman with schedule development, look-ahead updates, and resource allocation requests.
Superintendent/PM/PE with RFIs, submittals, and change documentation informed by field conditions.
Survey/layout and QA/QC activities (grades, compaction checks, erosion/SWPPP measures, concrete placement verification).
Recommends/Prepares:
Crew moves, resequencing, and duration adjustments to maintain progress and meet milestones.
Targeted training and cross-training plans to improve crew safety and productivity.
Field notes, takeoffs, and T&M tags to support progress tracking and change management.
Escalates:
Conflicts or miscommunications blocking work; scope/drawing discrepancies; unforeseen utilities.
Persistent delivery/vendor delays, equipment downtime, or staffing gaps that risk milestones.
Safety hazards that cannot be corrected immediately at the crew level.
4) Critical Competencies (must demonstrate)
Construction domain: Procore; project/crew scheduling; blueprint reading; RFIs/submittals; change orders; cost control; surveying/layout and total station; AutoCAD Civil 3D (coordination); traffic control; trenching & excavation; erosion control & stormwater/SWPPP; grading/compaction/earthworks; concrete forming/finishing; Job Safety Analysis; quality control; logistics/procurement/vendor management/materials management.
Information governance: Daily logs, issue tracking, photos, and inspection records in Procore; alignment to contract scope, civil drawings, and engineered specifications; clear reporting to supervision.
Productivity tools: Microsoft Project exposure; Microsoft Office; mobile field apps for documentation.

5) Qualifications
24 years civil/site/underground field experience with crew lead responsibilities; data center/industrial experience a plus.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate daily priorities, delegate work, and maintain safe, orderly work areas.
Proficiency with Procore daily logs, drawings, and issue tracking; experience supporting RFIs/submittals/change events.
Working knowledge of civil drawings/specs; ability to identify field issues and escalate early.
Understanding of JSAs, trenching/shoring, erosion/SWPPP, and traffic control requirements.
OSHA 30 and First Aid; flagger certification; exposure to surveying/layout and concrete forming/finishing.
Valid drivers license.
6) Performance Measure Buckets
Schedule: percent of planned tasks completed; reliability of look-ahead execution; recovery plan effectiveness.
Safety: JSAs/toolbox talks; trenching/traffic control/erosion measures in place; incident and near-miss reporting; corrective actions.
Quality: inspection pass rate; workmanship; grades/compaction verified; rework/defect rate.
Cost/Productivity: earned vs. planned quantities; labor/equipment/materials readiness; logistics efficiency.
Documentation/Communication: timely Procore logs/photos; RFI/issue turnaround; stakeholder satisfaction.
Team/Development: onboarding, training participation, coaching/mentoring contributions
