Job Summary

RPM HVAC Services is expanding its operations with a new division in North Carolina, dedicated to delivering high-quality commercial HVAC solutions to businesses across the state. We are seeking a top-tier Commercial HVAC Technician who is self-motivated, accountable, and self-sufficient to join our team. In this role, you will handle the installation, maintenance, repair, and optimization of complex commercial HVAC systems, ensuring reliability and efficiency for our clients in industries such as retail, office spaces, healthcare, and industrial facilities. The ideal candidate thrives in independent work environments, takes ownership of projects from start to finish, and consistently delivers exceptional results with minimal supervision.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, servicing, and repair of commercial HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, rooftop units, VAV systems, and ductwork.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues using advanced tools and techniques.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections to identify potential problems and extend system lifespan.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to ensure accurate work.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including building codes and environmental standards.
  • Collaborate with clients to assess needs, provide recommendations, and explain technical solutions in clear, non-technical terms.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and time spent on jobs for billing and reporting purposes.
  • Respond to emergency service calls promptly and efficiently, often outside regular hours.
  • Mentor junior technicians or apprentices as needed, while prioritizing self-directed project management.
  • Uphold safety protocols at all times, including proper use of PPE and adherence to OSHA guidelines.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Technical Proficiency:
    In-depth knowledge of commercial HVAC principles, including refrigeration cycles, heat transfer, airflow dynamics, and energy efficiency standards (e.g., ASHRAE guidelines).
  • Installation and Repair Skills: Expertise in installing, retrofitting, and repairing large-scale systems such as roof top units and split systems.
  • Electrical and Mechanical Expertise: Strong skills in electrical wiring, circuit testing, motor controls, PLCs, and mechanical components like compressors, fans, pumps, and valves.
  • Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Advanced ability to use diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeters, manometers, refrigerant gauges, thermal imaging cameras) to identify and resolve complex issues efficiently.
  • Certifications: Valid EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal ); NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certification in relevant specialties (e.g., Air Conditioning, Heat Pumps, Gas Heating); valid driver's license with clean record.
  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years in commercial HVAC service, with proven track record in high-stakes environments like hospitals or data centers.
  • Software and Tools: Proficiency with HVAC-specific software (e.g., building automation systems like BACnet or LonWorks) and general tools such as CRM systems for job tracking.
  • Safety and Compliance: Thorough understanding of safety practices, refrigerant handling (including recovery and recycling), and energy codes (e.g., LEED or Energy Star compliance).
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional self-motivation to initiate and complete tasks independently; high accountability for meeting deadlines and quality standards; self-sufficiency in problem-solving without constant oversight.


Skills

  • Additional certifications such as OSHA 10/30, HVAC Excellence, or manufacturer-specific training (e.g., Trane, Carrier, Daikin).
