Mechanical Commissioning Engineer – London – Data Centre

We are currently partnering with a bespoke Fire, Security and IT Solutions design, installation and support provider operation on Major Construction and Mission Critical projects across Europe. Due to continued success, they are seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to join them on a Data Centre Project in London.

Responsibilities

* Commissioning Planning & Execution

Develop and implement detailed commissioning plans and procedures for mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and client requirements.

* System Testing & Validation

Carry out and witness pre-functional checks, start-up activities, and performance testing of systems including chilled water, CRAC/CRAH units, ventilation, and fuel oil systems, ensuring readiness for integrated systems testing.

* Technical Coordination

Coordinate commissioning activities with design, construction, electrical, and controls teams, maintaining clear communication to ensure smooth sequencing and alignment across disciplines.

* Documentation & Reporting

Prepare and maintain commissioning documentation, test records, and progress reports; ensure all commissioning deliverables are accurate, traceable, and aligned with QA/QC requirements.

* Issue Resolution & Quality Control

Identify, track, and close out commissioning issues or deficiencies through structured reporting and collaboration with site teams and the client’s commissioning authority.

* Safety & Compliance Leadership

Ensure all commissioning works are executed in line with health and safety procedures, permits, and risk assessments; promote a strong safety culture within the commissioning team.

Requirements

Must have relevant degree level qualification or equivalent trades background

Must have 5+ years’ experience in a similar position on large scale construction projects (preferably Data Centres)

Must be based within commutable distance of London
