Job Title: Commissioning Manager
Location: AZ
Duration: 12+ months contract
Pay Range: $90-$100/hr., OT after 40.
Per Diem: Provided
Start Date: ASAP
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to support commissioning execution on a large-scale, complex construction project. This role will be responsible for building-level commissioning readiness, energization coordination, issue management, and cross-discipline communication between construction, QA/QC, commissioning, vendors, subcontractors, and project leadership.
The ideal candidate will have strong commissioning leadership experience across electrical, mechanical, and controls systems, with the ability to manage readiness from early commissioning activities through energization, startup, and turnover.
Responsibilities
- Manage building-level commissioning execution and readiness tracking.
- Oversee completion of early-stage commissioning activities and support later-stage startup and testing coordination.
- Coordinate field execution across electrical, mechanical, controls, QA/QC, vendors, subcontractors, and commissioning teams.
- Support energization planning by confirming documentation readiness, site readiness, procedural readiness, and required system checks.
- Track commissioning progress against project schedules, construction milestones, and turnover requirements.
- Identify and escalate risks that could impact energization, startup, or system turnover.
- Review issue logs, help prioritize deficiencies, and drive timely closure.
- Monitor repeat issues, documentation gaps, vendor delays, and field execution concerns.
- Provide regular readiness updates to project leadership.
- Support coordination with third-party commissioning teams for later-stage testing and turnover activities.
Qualifications
- Commissioning management experience on large-scale industrial, mission-critical, manufacturing, or similar complex construction projects.
- Strong understanding of commissioning levels, energization readiness, startup planning, and turnover processes.
- Experience coordinating electrical, mechanical, controls, QA/QC, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Familiarity with major building systems such as electrical distribution, generators, ATS equipment, chilled water systems, controls, and networked monitoring systems.
- Ability to review commissioning documentation, readiness checklists, issue logs, and turnover requirements.
- Strong field leadership skills with the ability to drive accountability across multiple teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
- Prior mission-critical or data center commissioning experience.
- Experience using commissioning management software.
- Experience supporting integrated systems testing or final turnover activities.
