Our client, a leading international law firm, is seeking a 2-6PQE Associate to join its London-based non-contentious construction team. This opportunity offers exposure to complex, cross-border projects across multiple sectors and geographies.

Overview

Our client’s construction practice supports organisations worldwide with the full spectrum of front-end construction matters. The team is active in major industries including transport infrastructure (roads, airports, ports, rail and utilities), energy (oil & gas, petrochemicals, hydrogen, power and renewables), technology and data centres, mining and metals, as well as large-scale commercial developments.

The group regularly advises sponsors, lenders, funds, and corporates on sophisticated procurement and construction mandates. Associates often collaborate with colleagues across project finance, real estate, technology, M&A and private equity on transactions involving high-value infrastructure and energy assets.

You will gain significant exposure to deals spanning Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia, working closely with sovereigns, multinational corporations, state-owned enterprises, global technology businesses, private equity houses, infrastructure investors, and leading financial institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of construction contracts, including EPC and EPCM structures.
  • Advise both sponsors and lenders on construction arrangements linked to project-financed deals.
  • Work in tandem with colleagues across practice groups to deliver seamless support on complex, multi-jurisdictional matters.
  • Take an active role in business development, maintaining strong client relationships and identifying new opportunities.
  • Supervise and mentor trainees and junior associates.
  • Travel internationally at short notice as required.

Requirements

  • England & Wales (or other common law) qualified solicitor from a leading international law firm.
  • Applicants at the 3 to 7 years PQE level will be considered
  • Solid experience with front-end construction work, ideally including EPC and EPCM contracts.
  • Prior involvement in project finance transactions with significant construction elements.
  • Familiarity with FIDIC and other recognised industry-standard forms such as NEC, JCT and LOGIC.
  • Strong understanding of key principles of construction law and risk allocation in major international contracts.
