Construction Manager – Data Centre

Location: Harlow, Essex
Contract: Approx. 6 months initially
Rate: Circa £400 per day, with some flexibility for the right candidate
Start: ASAP

An established engineering contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Construction Manager to support the delivery of a major data centre project in Harlow.

The project is at an advanced stage of construction, so the successful candidate will need to be comfortable taking ownership of fit-out, finishing, quality control, snagging and close-out activities, driving subcontractors and site teams through to practical completion and handover.

Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day construction activities across data halls and associated energy centre areas
Drive fit-out and finishing works through to completion
Manage subcontractors, supervisors and site teams
Monitor programme and ensure works are delivered against key milestones
Lead snagging, defect rectification and quality close-out
Coordinate construction activities with commissioning, MEP and CSA teams
Carry out quality inspections and ensure works meet project specifications
Manage site coordination meetings and resolve construction issues
Ensure RAMS, health & safety and site procedures are followed
Support commissioning readiness and final handover

Requirements

Recent data centre construction experience is essential
Ideally 3+ years working on data centre projects
Previous experience as a Construction Manager, Site Manager or Senior Site Manager
Strong experience taking projects through fit-out, finishing, snagging and handover
Good understanding of the interfaces between CSA, architectural fit-out and MEP packages
Strong subcontractor management and programme-driving ability
Comfortable working on a fast-paced live data centre project
Able to start at relatively short notice
