Job Summary:
As the Construction Manager I, II, III, you will ultimately be responsible for managing construction crews, overseeing project execution, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. You will coordinate field operations, resources, and customer communication while delivering high-quality construction services. As the Construction Manager, your customers are project managers, field crews, clients, and internal operations teams, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through operational leadership, quality execution, and safe project delivery.
Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
- Manage and coordinate the activities of assigned construction crews
- Evaluate the performance of direct reports and provide coaching, training, and development opportunities
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Administer corrective actions and prepare documentation related to employee performance and behavioral issues
- Train and mentor Foremen to ensure consistent project execution and leadership development
- Coordinate project scheduling, material procurement, and resource allocation with Project Managers
- Work directly with customers regarding project planning, site coordination, and scheduling
- Order materials required for assigned projects
- Coordinate with administrative staff regarding crew timesheets, job documentation, and project setup
- Review and approve invoices related to assigned projects
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within scope, and within budget
- Monitor project milestones, deliverables, and overall project progress
- Review and approve daily production reports, mark-up maps, work hours, as-built documentation, and closeout packages
- Conduct interviews and participate in hiring field personnel
- Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs
Required Qualifications:
Education, Licensing, and Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- OSHA 30 Certification
Experience
- Proven experience managing construction crews and field operations
- Experience with aerial and underground utility construction
- Experience coordinating multiple construction projects simultaneously
- Experience reading and interpreting construction plans, blueprints, and specifications

- Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
- Strong organizational, planning, and project management abilities
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to build positive working relationships with employees, customers, and stakeholders
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word, as well as scheduling software and HCSS HeavyBid or similar construction management software
- Ability to perform budget forecasting, statistical analysis, cost estimating, and financial calculations
- Ability to interpret contracts, RFPs, construction drawings, operating manuals, safety regulations, and technical documentation
- Ability to respond effectively to customer, employee, and regulatory inquiries
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to quality
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines
Qualifications:
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Experience supporting telecommunications or utility construction projects
- Experience leading multiple crews across simultaneous projects
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to maintain visual and audible awareness of crews, equipment, vehicles, and surrounding work environments
- Ability to safely work around heavy equipment and construction machinery
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to bend, squat, climb, kneel, push, pull, lift, twist, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for prolonged periods throughout the workday
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety boots, hard hats, safety glasses, and other required safety gear

Leveling: A Construction Manager I, II, or III title differentiation is based on the individual's experience, demonstrated skill level, the size and complexity of projects managed, and span of control.
