Job DescriptionJob DescriptionControls Technician (BMS / BAS / Low Voltage)Location: Columbus, OHTravel: Occasional Regional Travel for Project SupportCompany: JSET Automated TechnologiesAbout JSET Automated TechnologiesJSET Automated Technologies specializes in Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), and controls installations in mission-critical environments, including data centers, industrial facilities, and critical infrastructure projects.Our field teams are known for delivering safe, high-quality installations, clean workmanship, and precise documentation while supporting some of the most advanced facilities in the country.This position is ideal for candidates with experience as a Controls Technician, BAS Technician, BMS Technician, Low Voltage Technician, Electrical Technician, Instrumentation Technician, Power Monitoring Technician, or SCADA Technician.Position OverviewJSET Automated Technologies is seeking a Controls Technician to support Building Automation Systems (BAS), Building Management Systems (BMS), and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) throughout the Columbus region.This role is responsible for installing, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning control systems that support mission-critical infrastructure. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on technical work, collaborating with field teams, and supporting startup and commissioning activities in the field.While this position is primarily focused on projects in the Columbus area, candidates should be open to occasional regional travel to support project needs.What You'll DoInstall, terminate, label, and verify low-voltage control wiring per project drawings and specificationsRead and interpret wiring diagrams, controls schematics, electrical one-lines, and network diagramsInstall and support field devices including sensors, controllers, meters, gateways, and network switchesConfigure devices using laptops and approved software toolsVerify IP addressing, network connectivity, and device communicationsPerform point-to-point checks, startup activities, functional testing, and quality verificationTroubleshoot electrical, communication, and controls-related issuesRepair or replace devices, sensors, and field wiring as neededCoordinate with commissioning teams, engineers, project managers, and field leadershipCommunicate drawing discrepancies, RFIs, and technical concerns to project leadershipDocument installations, testing results, and device configurationsTrack materials, equipment, and project requirementsSupport inspections, turnover documentation, and punch-list completionFollow OSHA requirements and site-specific safety procedures, including lockout/tagout practicesRequired QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GEDMinimum 1 year of experience in controls, BAS/BMS, low voltage, electrical installation, industrial automation, or a related technical tradeUnderstanding of basic electrical theory and safe work practicesAbility to read and interpret electrical drawings, controls diagrams, and network documentationBasic networking knowledge, including IP addressing and device communicationsComfortable using laptops for configuration, diagnostics, and firmware updatesStrong documentation and organizational skillsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office applicationsStrong communication and teamwork skillsValid driver's license and reliable transportationPreferred Qualifications2+ years of experience with controls installation, BMS, BAS, EPMS, or power monitoring systemsExperience with Niagara (Tridium), Distech, Ignition, or similar controls platformsExperience supporting data center, mission-critical, industrial, manufacturing, or large commercial projectsTechnical certification, associate degree, or vocational training in electrical, controls, automation, or IT-related fieldsExposure to SCADA systems, PLCs, industrial controls, or automation technologiesExperience supporting commissioning and startup activitiesBenefitsCompetitive PayMedical, Dental, and Vision Insurance401(k) with Company MatchPaid Time Off and Paid HolidaysCompany-Paid Life InsuranceCareer Advancement OpportunitiesOngoing Technical Training and Professional DevelopmentOpportunity to Work on Advanced Data Center and Critical Infrastructure ProjectsWork Environment & Physical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 60 poundsAbility to climb ladders and work from personnel liftsAbility to work in active construction sites, electrical rooms, and operational facilitiesAbility to distinguish wire colors and read terminal labelsAbility to wear required PPE for extended periodsMust be at least 18 years oldJoin the JSET TeamIf you're looking to build a long-term career in controls, automation, and mission-critical infrastructure, we'd love to hear from you.
