Our client, a leading provider of data centre and critical environment services, is seeking an experienced Critical Facilities Manager to oversee operations at a major data centre campus in Slough. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of all engineering and facilities services within a mission-critical environment.
The Role
The Critical Facilities Manager will act as the key point of contact for the client, leading a dedicated on-site team and managing subcontractors to deliver service excellence. The successful candidate will be responsible for health and safety, compliance, financial performance, and service delivery across the site, ensuring that 100% uptime and statutory compliance are achieved at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the on-site engineering and contractor teams.
- Ensure health, safety, and compliance standards are met across all activities.
- Maintain strong client relationships, attending meetings and providing updates.
- Ensure service delivery aligns with KPIs, SLAs, and governance requirements.
- Oversee PPM, reactive, and corrective maintenance planning and execution.
- Manage site statutory compliance logs, audits, and CMMS records.
- Provide technical support across engineering services.
- Deliver monthly operational reports and contract governance updates.
- Lead cultural change by promoting safe working practices and continuous improvement.
- Identify and quote for small project works and potential business opportunities.
- Manage financial performance including P&L, WIP, and procurement of materials/services.
- Ensure effective onboarding, training, and resourcing for engineers.
- Act as part of the escalation chain for incidents, providing technical leadership.
Candidate Profile
- Strong data centre engineering background (essential).
- Engineering qualification in M&E (essential).
- Proven management and supervisory experience.
- Solid understanding of compliance, statutory requirements, and critical works planning.
- Financial and commercial management experience preferred.
- Experience delivering both engineering and wider facilities services desirable.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and CMMS systems.
- Self-motivated, reliable, detail-oriented, and professional.
- Strong customer focus with the ability to build effective client relationships.
