About the Role

We are seeking skilled Data Center Technicians with hands-on experience in fiber optic cabling. This role involves installing and routing pre-terminated fiber optic cables between data racks and selected end-user devices inside our data center environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Run, route, and secure pre-terminated fiber optic cables between designated rack locations.
• Perform terminations at racks and end-user devices as required.
• Identify and correctly work with single-mode (SM) and multimode (MM) fiber.
• Use diagnostic tools including:
  • Visual Fault Locator (VFL)
  • Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR/OTLS)
    to verify cable health, identify breaks, and test for proper attenuation.
• Inspect, clean, and prepare fiber optic connectors to ensure optimal dB loss and proper performance.
• Follow established data center cabling standards, pathways, labeling, and documentation practices.
• Coordinate with data center operations staff and work safely within active equipment environments.

Requirements

• Previous data center experience is mandatory.
• Proficiency with fiber optic installation, testing, and cleaning procedures.
• Ability to distinguish and work with single-mode vs. multimode cabling.
• Strong understanding of fiber performance specs and acceptable dB loss thresholds.
• Ability to lift, climb ladders, work overhead, and navigate under-floor pathways as needed.
• Excellent attention to detail and adherence to cabling standards.
• Must pass a criminal background check.

Skills

• Experience with server rack installation or cable management systems.
• Familiarity with structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA).
• Additional low-voltage or copper cabling experience.
