We seek a skilled Data Center Install and Test Engineer to join our dynamic team in Plano, TX. In this role, you will lead a small team (up to six members) responsible for installing, configuring, and testing prebuilt solutions (servers and fully assembled racks) in data center environments nationally and internationally. This customer-facing role requires exceptional technical expertise, communication skills, and confidence in managing deployments. Typical deployments last about one week. Travel up to 30% and international.
AI drives this work, so experience with clusters, Spine and Leaf network architecture, and onsite installations is critical.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the installation, setup, and testing of prebuilt and preconfigured solutions in data centers.
- Lead and manage a team of up to six technicians to ensure seamless deployment and functionality testing.
- Provide technical expertise in networking, network topology, proper cable management and interconnect, PDU power systems, and Spine and Leaf architectures.
- Collaborate with clients and team members to ensure successful server deployments and address any technical challenges.
- Travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time for project deployments.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience setting up and testing solutions in data center environments.
- Strong understanding of networking principles, including topology, fiber cabling, PDU power systems, and AI-driven server clusters.
- Hands-on experience with network hardware and protocols, including:

- High speed switches in a redundant configuration. (Direct experience with Nvidia Switches and Cisco Spectrum 3 Switches a plus.)
- Routing and switching protocols: BGPv4, OSPF, EIGRP, PIM, IPv4/IPv6, Multicast.
- Technologies: VLAN, VXLAN, MPLS, Ethernet, SDWAN, SDA, and others.
- Troubleshooting tools like Wireshark and platforms such as Cisco DNAC.
- Experience with data center installation projects, Spine and Leaf architecture, and other common network configurations.
- Familiarity with security technologies such as Cisco ASA, ISE, and Palo Alto, including VPN/DMVPN, ACLs, and IPSEC.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage small teams effectively.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing abilities.
- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Skills (Nice to Have):
- Advanced knowledge of data network engineering and architecture.
- Expertise in global load balancing, TACACS+, RADIUS, NAT, DNS, DHCP, and SNMP.
- Familiarity with SolarWinds and related monitoring tools.
- Cisco CCNA and Nvidia networking certification
