Position Overview
\n
The Data Center Operations Technician is responsible for the day-to-day activities that support data center operations, IT systems, network services, and business-critical processes and procedures that enable the delivery of customer products and services.
\n
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, self-starter who conducts themselves professionally, demonstrates strong technical aptitude, and is comfortable working with minimal supervision.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess

- Experience ranging from racking and stacking servers to working with battery/power systems and structured cabling.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, meet deadlines, and ensure uptime.
- Ability to lead projects and work autonomously under customer direction, whether written or verbal, involving servers, routers, and switches.

Responsibilities and Duties
\n
- \n
- Support the delivery of data center services, including colocation, telecommunications services, and deployment of additional services for customers and internal business systems.
- Maintain the cleanliness, appearance, organization, and overall condition of the Data Center.
- Act as a technical and operational point of contact for data center customers, vendors, and carriers regarding colocation, connectivity, and network products and services.
- Properly and efficiently install cabinets, networking equipment, PDUs, and servers as required.
- Install fiber optic and Ethernet cabling.
- Manage inbound and outbound shipments.
- Perform remote hands tasks under the direction of the Data Center Manager, Network/Engineering, and IT Manager to support internal networks, IT infrastructure, computers, electronics, and telephone systems.
- Conduct activities within IT and telecommunications rooms or cabinets, including installation of IT and network hardware, making or running patch cables, and verifying or testing cable paths.
- Coordinate and oversee access to and work within the facility by third-party contractors, vendors, and carriers related to structured cabling installation, circuit delivery, and equipment installations in IT and telecommunications rooms and customer spaces.
- Support Meet Me Room/Carrier Points of Presence and assist with the operation, administration, and maintenance of infrastructure, network equipment, and tasks related to the delivery and support of network services.
- Utilize multiple ticketing and monitoring systems to perform daily tasks and activities.
- Create floor plans using Microsoft Visio.
- Assume a leadership role in internal and external escalations, projects, and other duties as assigned.
- Plan, install, and troubleshoot power-related tasks, including but not limited to power circuits, PDUs, rack power requirements, and load management.

- Technical experience and strong technical aptitude.
- Solid time-management and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and lift up to 50+ lbs.

Education

- High School Diploma required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree .
- Industry certifications such as A+, Network+, CDCA, or ITIL .
