Job Type: Contract to Hire
Pay: $28 - $38 Per Hour BOE
Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections and quality checks on cable infrastructure and fiber installations.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards and company specifications for cable management, termination, and labeling.
- Conduct Fluke and OTDR testing to validate fiber performance.
- Verify and document compliance with blueprints, technical drawings, and customer requirements.
- Perform troubleshooting and corrective actions for fiber optic and cabling issues.
- Oversee the accuracy of fiber splicing and ensure proper utilization of splicing equipment.
- Maintain detailed records of test results, non-conformance reports, and corrective actions.
- Perform audits on infrastructure installs, including fiber tray systems, ladder racks, and power trays.
- Implement and enforce quality control processes throughout the installation and testing phases.
- Inspect and verify proper installation of cable infrastructure, fiber optics, and server racks.
- Oversee the termination and splicing of Single Mode and Multi-Mode fiber, ensuring adherence to standards.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with installation requirements for customer equipment, fiber trays, ladder racks, and cabinets.
- Review and validate material receiving, hardware assembly, and equipment stacking.
- Work closely with installation teams to ensure quality and compliance during outside plant (OSP) fiber installations.
- Identify and report deficiencies in installation or workmanship and ensure timely resolution.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure QA/QC processes align with project timelines and objectives.
- Provide regular reports on quality assessments, test results, and potential risks.
- Assist in training teams on best practices for cable and fiber installations.
- Support blueprint reviews and suggest necessary changes to maintain quality standards.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
- 3 years of experience in Data Center infrastructure, QA/QC, or Fiber installation.
- In-depth knowledge of fiber optic splicing, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with industry-standard tools including Fluke meters and OTDR testers.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for fiber optics and cabling.
- Active OSHA 10 certification .
- Ability to work in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds, and be on feet for extended periods.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documents.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
- This position sometimes operates in an office environment but will require regular visits to construction sites.
- Job Requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year (heat, cold, rain, and snow).
- Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Johns).
- Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses always), and a respirator when required.
- Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
- Able to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime as required and night shifts.
Pay Transparency
The anticipated salary range for this position is $28 - $38 Per Hour, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
