Key Responsibilities
- Hardware Management: Rack, stack, cable, and de-rack servers, switches, and other IT equipment.
- Installation & Decommissioning: Deploy new equipment and retire old gear following set processes.
- Troubleshooting: Address basic hardware issues, run diagnostics, replace faulty components (like drives), and resolve tickets.
- Monitoring: Watch building and system alerts (HVAC, power, network) and react to issues.
- Cabling: Run network/power cables (patching) between equipment.
- Security & Compliance: Handle media securely, follow security protocols, and escort visitors.
- Documentation: Update ticket statuses, log activity, and maintain records.
What They Work With (Physical)
- Cable/Fiber Technician: Installing, splicing, and maintaining fiber optic or copper cabling systems.
- Field Service Technician: On-site support for equipment installation, repair, and troubleshooting.
- Audio Visual (AV) Technician: Setting up and maintaining A/V equipment.
- Commercial Service Technician/HVAC: Focusing on mechanical systems like heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
- Electro/Mechanical Assembly Technician: Building and testing complex electronic and mechanical systems.
