Job Title: Lab Network Administrator (Night Shift)

Position Type: Onsite contract through 01/15/2027

Location: Quincy, WA

Shift: 3rd Shift | 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM

 

Role Summary

The Lab Network Administrator supports day-to-day operations of an active R&D lab and data center environment. This role focuses on troubleshooting, maintaining, and configuring lab infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on UNIX/Linux systems and networking fundamentals. The position is hands-on and operational, supporting regular lab activities rather than a short-term project.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Resolve a high volume of technical trouble tickets using a ticketing system
  • Install, configure, and replace network and computer equipment
  • Reinstall and maintain software on lab devices
  • Build, modify, and document network topologies
  • Rack, stack, cable, power, and troubleshoot lab and data center equipment
  • Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, and related hardware
  • Build and deploy virtual machines using common virtualization platforms
  • Update and maintain device and asset records in internal databases
  • Assist with testbed setup and connectivity validation
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and policy-compliant lab environment

 

Inventory & Asset Management Duties

  • Receive, stock, and issue electronic and mechanical components
  • Verify quantities and condition of equipment
  • Maintain controlled storage areas
  • Perform cycle counts and inventory audits
  • Tag, track, and manage assets, including RMA processing

 

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with UNIX/Linux systems
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, IP addressing, DNS, routing)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Comfort performing physical tasks in a lab or data center environment

 

Qualifications

  • Experience with Juniper JUNOS-based routers
  • Familiarity with data center operations and lab environments
  • Exposure to virtualization platforms such as OpenStack or ESX/vCenter
  • Computer Science or related technical degree

 

Experience Level

  • 6–12 months of relevant experience
  • Candidates with strong data center and UNIX/Linux knowledge may qualify with less experience

 

This is an onsite, night-shift contract role supporting ongoing lab operations in a production-style environment.
