Data Center Technician

$50 – $55 per hour

Position Overview
Reliance One is seeking a Data Center Technician to support data center operations and ensure the highest level of uptime, reliability, and security. The Data Center Technician will work closely with Data Center Managers to manage IT floor space, power, environmental controls, and mechanical systems, while ensuring compliance with data center standards.
Key Responsibilities of the Data Center Technician
- Support Data Center Managers in running facility duties to meet data center standards.
- Manage IT floor space, cabinet power, and U-space.
- Oversee and maintain electrical, environmental, and mechanical equipment supporting the data center (HVAC, UPS, Generators, etc.).
- Build, manage, and maintain MEP monitoring tools utilizing Vertiv Sitescan and/or APC Data Center Expert/IT Advisor.
- Provide operational support to ensure 99.99% data center uptime.
- Support staff in maintaining continuous business operations.
- Inventory and document data center equipment.
Required Qualifications for the Data Center Technician
- Experience managing APC DCE/ITA or Vertiv Sitescan environments and servers.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, UPS, ATS, and Generators functions and alarming.
- Background in incident ticketing and change management applications.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, using Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Commitment to learning new technologies to maintain industry-leading practices.
Desired Skills for the Data Center Technician
- Oversight of vendor implementation for electrical, environmental, and mechanical equipment improvements.
- Experience ensuring vendor-performed maintenance aligns with manufacturer recommendations or industry standards.
- Familiarity with Request for Change procedures for service, repairs, and improvements.
- Enforcement of physical access, safety, and security policies for restricted data center areas.
- Working knowledge of servers, storage, and networking in a data center environment (Nutanix, HP, VMWare, Cisco Switches).
Schedule
- 40 hours per week, with occasional overtime.
- Some evening or weekend support required.
- Occasional travel to support critical data center activities.
