GPU Datacenter Technician – Job Description (Client-Ready)

Position Title: GPU Datacenter Technician

Location: Onsite – Atlanta (ATL) and Suwanee (SUW)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 08:00–17:00 local time

Experience Level: 3-5 years

 

Overview

The GPU Datacenter Technician provides on-site, physical-layer support for datacenter hardware, including Dell GPU servers, networking components, cabling, power systems, and associated infrastructure. This role is responsible for hands-on troubleshooting, routine maintenance, hardware replacement, and accurate documentation of all activities and used inventory. The technician will work closely with site leads and engineering teams to ensure uptime, reliability, and proper operation of GPU-based compute environments.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on installation, troubleshooting, and break/fix activities on server hardware, including Dell GPU servers.

• Replace internal server components such as CPUs, GPUs, DIMMs, motherboards, power supplies, fans, NICs, and storage drives.

• Identify and handle various network optics including DAC, QSFP, MTP connectors, 100/400/800G modules; clean optics and run new fiber/copper connections as required.

• Rack, cable, and power new hardware according to datacenter standards.

• Understand and work safely with PDU configurations, including phase balancing and redundant power feeds.

• Monitor and maintain environmental conditions, cabling integrity, hardware health, and rack cleanliness.

• Maintain an accurate audit of all spares used, replaced components, and available inventory.

• Follow detailed written procedures and operational playbooks for maintenance, escalation, and reporting.

• Document all work performed through ticketing systems and change management tools.

• Provide physical support for network, storage, and server platforms (no OS or software work required).

• Coordinate with remote engineering teams during troubleshooting, verifying hardware states, taking photos, reading labels, testing connections, etc.

• Support general datacenter tasks including decommissioning, labeling, patching, and structured cabling.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 3-5 years of hands-on datacenter or hardware technician experience (racking, stacking, cabling, troubleshooting).

• Strong understanding of server hardware components and safe handling procedures.

• Familiarity with Dell server platforms; knowledge of Dell GPU servers is a strong plus.

• Ability to identify and clean fiber optics and connectors (DAC, QSFP, MTP, 100G–800G).

• Basic understanding of networking hardware (switches, optics, cabling).

• Ability to follow written procedures accurately and produce clear written documentation.

• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).

• Reliable, organized, and able to work independently on site.

 

Qualifications

• Experience with GPU-based compute hardware (NVIDIA cards, GPU servers, etc.).

• Experience maintaining datacenter audit logs or asset management databases.

• Basic understanding of power distribution (PDUs, phase balancing, A/B feeds).

• Experience in fast-paced or hyperscale datacenter environments.

 

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (servers, hardware, equipment).

• Able to stand, walk, and work within racks for extended periods.

• Comfortable working in datacenter environmental conditions.

Summary

This role is ideal for a technician with 3-5 years of physical-layer datacenter experience who is comfortable with hands-on hardware work, GPU server components, and routine maintenance tasks. Software/OS expertise is not required—the focus is on hardware, cabling, optics, break/fix, and maintaining accurate inventory.

 

Engagement terms:

· Location: 1033 Jefferson Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30318

(We have 2 locations:

1. 1033 Jefferson Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30318

2. 300 Satellite Blvd NW, Suwanee, GA 30024)

· Hourly rate on 1099: $35-45/hr.

· Duration: 6–12-month engagement.

· Working hours: Onsite support for normal business hours, M-F, 08:00 to 17:00 local time

· Target start: Feb 2026

· Candidates should require having a Professional and general liability insurance that is typical of an independent contractor for 1099. It is quite cheap and easy to get this insurance.

· Interview Process –3 steps, All teams.

· Must pass standard background investigation & drug screening.
