Overview
We are seeking a skilled Data Center Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of data center infrastructure. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment to ensure optimal operation of network and telecommunication systems, including fiber optics, cabling, and hardware components. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in computer networking, low voltage systems, and equipment repair, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service and technical support.

Duties

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot network equipment such as Cisco routers, Juniper devices, and Avaya telephony systems.
  • Perform fiber splicing, cable management (Cat5, Cat6), and low voltage wiring following NEC standards.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on data center hardware including servers, switches, and power supplies using hand tools and power tools.
  • Assist with the setup and testing of Ethernet networks, VoIP systems, LAN configurations, and telecommunication infrastructure.
  • Interpret schematics and technical diagrams to accurately install or repair equipment.
  • Perform fiber optic testing using tools such as an ohmmeter to ensure integrity of cabling.
  • Support field service activities for client sites involving network installation and system upgrades.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of work performed and system configurations for compliance and future reference.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing client concerns promptly and professionally during site visits or remote support.
  • Build and assemble server racks and cabinets
  • Install rails, PDUs, cable managers, patch panels, and switches
  • Rack and stack servers, storage devices, and network equipment
  • Decommission and relocate equipment as needed
  • Secure equipment and ensure proper labeling

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Service Technician or Field Service Technician in data centers or telecommunications environments.
  • Hands-on experience with CCTV systems, fiber splicing, network installation, and equipment repair.
  • Familiarity with computer hardware components, electrical systems, and low voltage wiring standards (NEC).
  • Knowledge of Ethernet cabling (Cat5/Cat6), telephony systems (VoIP), Cisco routers, Juniper equipment, and Avaya platforms.
  • Ability to read schematics, technical diagrams, and network schematics accurately.
  • Experience working with power tools, hand tools, multimeters (ohmmeters), and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong understanding of IT fundamentals including LAN/WAN architecture, telecommunication protocols, and electrical safety standards.
  • Service technician experience in installing or maintaining telephony systems or data center infrastructure is highly desirable.
