Title: Data Center Technician I
Client: NTT
Pay Rate: $23-28/hour 
Duration: 3 months+ (chance to extend past the 3 month timeline or go Fulltime down the line) 
Location: Colorado City, TX / Barber Lake, Tx(onsite) 
Second Shift: 3pm to 12am

 

Must be US or Green card
Start date: June 29 with 2 weeks of training and an exam before a Mid-July Go live with Google.

 

Job Details: 
NTT has a proof of concept for Google AI Data center build outs and this would be supporting that program must be flexible to travel for training potentially 1 week before start (NTT covers travel if needed for that training) L1 Techs will Perform repeatable tasks, liquid filling, scanning of inventory, labeling, positioning of components Some L1s have come from a military background or out of school with minimum of 5-6 months handling fiber cabling MUST HAVE Structured cabling experience, possibly work in a Central office, someone who has their own crimping tool, experience running cat 5 cat6, running coax and copper Must have Good attitude and NTT will train them Must Know basic rack and stack, basic cabling Data Center Field Installations Technician (L1) The Data Center Field Installations Technician (L1) is an entry-level technical role responsible for executing standardized in-rack installation activities within a data center environment. This includes rack builds, equipment racking and stacking, structured cabling, power connections, and cooling setup tasks (DX and direct-to-chip liquid cooling). This role provides hands-on support for deployment activities by following established procedures, checklists, and technical standards to ensure consistent, high-quality installations. Through accurate execution of installation tasks and adherence to defined processes, this role contributes to timely project delivery and minimizes rework or operational risk. The primary objective of this role is to complete all assigned installation activities in alignment with quality standards, safety requirements, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The Data Center Field Installations Technician (L1) is responsible for handling standard, low-complexity installation tasks, performing routine physical work, and using

 

documented guidelines and supervision where required. Onsite - shift work - Barber Lake, TX Key Responsibilities
· Perform rack assembly and preparation (rail kits, PDUs, cable management, labeling)
· Rack and stack servers, network, and storage equipment according to design specifications
· Execute structured cabling (copper and fiber) including routing, dressing, and labeling
· Connect power cabling (A/B feeds) following defined redundancy standards
· Assist with in-rack airflow and cooling setup:
· Install blanking panels and airflow management components for DX-cooled environments
· Support airflow optimization through proper cable routing and rack layout
· Assist with direct-to-chip (D2C) liquid cooling connections under supervision (e.g., hose routing, quick disconnects)
· Follow installation documentation, diagrams, and method of procedures (MOPs)
· Conduct basic quality checks and report discrepancies or issues
· Maintain cleanliness and organization within racks and work areas

 

Health & Safety Responsibilities
· Comply with all data center safety policies, procedures, and permit-to-work systems
· Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for tasks (e.g., gloves, safety shoes, eye protection)
· Follow safe manual handling practices when lifting and installing equipment
· Adhere to electrical safety standards when working with power connections (under supervision)
· Follow safety procedures for direct-to-chip liquid cooling systems, including leak awareness and immediate reporting
· Maintain good housekeeping to prevent trip hazards (e.g., cable management, packaging disposal)
· Immediately report hazards, near misses, or incidents

 

Requirements (L1)
· Basic understanding of data center environments and IT hardware components
· Familiarity with structured cabling practices (copper and/or fiber )
· Awareness of rack infrastructure (PDUs, rails, cable management)
· Basic understanding of airflow management; exposure to DX or direct-to-chip (D2C) liquid cooling is a plus
· Ability to follow technical documentation and standard operating procedures
· Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
· Ability to perform physical tasks (lifting, working in confined rack spaces, standing for extended periods)
· Basic understanding of health and safety practices in a technical environment
