Job Title: Data Center Cabling Technicians (Smart Hands)

Location: Memphis, TN

Start Date: 7/1 (7) techs and 7/6 (8 techs)

Duration: 5 Weeks

Schedule: Monday-Friday, Day Shift (Normal Business Hours) 8:00 am-5PM 1 hour unpaid lunch per day

 

Project Overview:

Experienced Data Center/Cabling Technicians to support a large-scale infrastructure deployment project in Memphis, TN. Technicians will assist with data center preparation, equipment receiving, inventory management, cable installation, labeling, testing, and verification activities.

  • All candidates must have experience with Data Center cabling, rack/stacking, and networking devices.   
  • Fiber experience would be nice to have for the leads.
  • Cabling Technicians without Data Center experience will not be considered. 

Responsibilities:

Prep:

  • 7 x resources will arrive onsite three days prior to the start of cabling installation to provide the following:
  • Site Walk
  • Identify barriers/ issues for installation
  • Set up/ install working area
  • Shelves, tables, etc.
  • Organize cabling
  • Label test and verification
  • Obtain customer sign off on label design

 

Receiving

  • Receive shipments of equipment (cabling, transceivers, and misc. equipment, etc.)
  • Unbox equipment
  • Perform inventory of equipment
  • Dispose of boxing/packaging
  • Move materials to required locations

 

Rack/stack/installation services:

  • Transceivers (10,368)

 

Equipment Labeling

  • Provides labels and applies where needed/requested
  • Cabling (11,232 cables in scope):
  • Inventory
  • Labeling
  • Client will provide 3 x Brady Flag Label Printers
  • Example Model: Brady M610 Bluetooth Handheld Label Maker
  • Client will provide labels and ink

  • apply/install on cabling

 

Prep and dress cables

  • Plug into ports
  • Verification of cabling
  • verify link lights
  • verify plugged into correct ports

 

Requirements:

  • Previous data center cabling experience required
  • Experience with structured cabling installations
  • Ability to read labels, port assignments, and cable schedules
  • Experience with cable dressing and cable management best practices
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced data center environment
  • Ability to lift and move equipment/materials as required
  • Reliable transportation and ability to commit to the full project duration

 

Lead Data Center Technician (2 Openings)

Lead Technicians must possess strong data center cabling experience and demonstrated leadership capabilities.

 

Additional Lead Responsibilities:

  • Direct daily technician activities
  • Coordinate installation tasks
  • Ensure quality standards are maintained
  • Assist with inventory control and project reporting
  • Escalate issues and blockers to project leadership
  • Support verification and completion activities
