We are currently seeking a multi-skilled Data Centre Engineer to join their team in Acton/ Ealing, West London. In this role, you will work within a small team providing critical services to a prestigious international financial organization.  

Responsibilities

  • Working a 24x7x365 shift pattern (4 days on/4 days off, 4 nights on/4 nights off).

  • Managing change control, incidents, and resolution.

    \n

  • \n

  • Tracking and managing assets.

    \n

  • \n

  • Supervising and escorting third-party vendors.

    \n

  • \n

  • Planning and implementing IT hardware installations adhering to strict Data Centre standards.

    \n

  • \n

  • Planning and decommissioning network hardware and structured cabling.

    \n

  • \n

  • Updating all relevant documentation and inventories.

    \n

  • \n

  • Completing service requests within agreed SLAs.

    \n

  • \n

  • Ensuring compliance with our client’s and the end-user's Health & Safety and Quality Standards.

    \n

  • \n

  • Maintaining security procedures regarding the Data Centre environment.

    \n

  • \n

Task Description

  • Maintain Data Centre toolsets that assist with support and management.

    \n

  • \n

  • Provide management and governance over the Data Centre.

    \n

  • \n

  • Work closely with facilities providers to maximize energy efficiency.

    \n

  • \n

  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the site, including installations, decommissions, and maintenance.

    \n

  • \n

  • Support Data Centre service improvement and major infrastructure projects (e.g., power outages/replacements).

    \n

  • \n

  • Perform basic server configuration (IDRAC, ILO) and fault finding.

    \n

  • \n

  • Manage racking, stacking, moves, changes, and patching.

    \n

  • \n

  • Manage complex inter-rack/room cable infrastructure to provide a stable platform for IT connectivity.

    \n

  • \n

What we’re looking for:

  • \nExperience: Proven background in a similar role within high-risk environments or Data Centres.

    \n

  • \n

  • \nTechnical Knowledge: Sound understanding of infrastructure technologies and networking concepts.

    \n

  • \n

  • \nTools: Experience with DCIM tools and ticketing systems like ServiceNow or Remedy (desirable).

    \n

  • \n

  • \nSoftware: Competence in MS Office and Helpdesk/Service Delivery applications.

    \n

  • \n

  • \nAttributes: A reliable team player with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach.

    \n

  • \n

  • \nSkills: Excellent communication (written and verbal) and strong organizational/administrative skills.

    \n

  • \n

  • \nAdaptability: The ability to work under pressure, use your own initiative, and maintain a flexible approach to shift patterns.
