Data Scientist – Solar, BESS & Emerging Energy Tech

London (Hybrid)

I am looking for a Data Scientist to join a fast-growing clean energy developer working across solar PV, battery energy storage (BESS), and next- energy technologies in the UK.

This is not a typical entry-level role, you’ll be embedded in a high-impact engineering and development team, applying data science to projects that directly influence how energy is generated, stored, and distributed.

A dynamic and rapidly scaling clean energy developer with a multi-gigawatt pipeline of solar and battery storage projects across the UK. The team has a strong track record of delivering projects from concept through to consent.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Build and maintain geospatial screening tools to identify and rank development sites
• Develop energy market models & revenue forecasts for solar and BESS projects
• Create dashboards and automated reporting tools to track performance and pipeline progress
• Work with large, complex datasets (grid, weather, project data)
• Support engineering teams with power systems analysis and statistical modelling
• Apply machine learning techniques for yield prediction and optimisation
• Contribute to technical reports, planning submissions, and investor materials

✅ What We’re Looking For

• Strong Python skills (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, matplotlib)
• Experience with SQL and relational databases
• Exposure to geospatial tools (QGIS, GeoPandas, or similar)
• Solid understanding of statistics and machine learning fundamentals
• Interest in renewable energy, power systems, or infrastructure
• Experience with data visualisation tools (Power BI, Plotly, Streamlit) is a plus
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly
• Proactive, curious mindset with a desire to learn and grow
