Data Center Cable Technician – Entry Level; Contract

SUMMARY:
The Level 1 Data Center Cable Technician is responsible for supporting structured cabling installations within the data center environment. This entry-level role focuses on cable routing, termination, labeling, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure reliable connectivity and optimal network performance.
Responsibilities:
- Install, route, and secure copper (Cat5e/6/6a) and fiber optic cables within ladder racks, trays, conduits, and cabinets.
- Terminate copper cabling to patch panels, jacks, and network equipment following industry standards (TIA/EIA).
- Assist with fiber optic terminations, polishing, and splicing (under supervision).
- Label cables, patch panels, and racks in accordance with site documentation standards.
- Perform basic cable testing and certification using tools such as Fluke testers, OTDR, and continuity testers.
- Support moves, adds, and changes (MACs) of cabling and hardware as requested.
Qualifications:
- 0–2 years of experience in cabling, low-voltage wiring, or related technical field.
- Basic knowledge of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI).
- Familiarity with copper and fiber cabling, patch panels, and network racks.
- Ability to use hand tools, cable testers, and labeling equipment.
- Willingness to learn advanced fiber and copper installation techniques.
