1st Step Solutions are supporting a leading M&E contractor who have an opportunity for a Design Manager on a permanent basis based in London.\n \nOur client delivers complex engineering solutions across data centres, building services, energy and industrial sectors.\n\nKey Responsibilities: \n\nTo act as the company’s senior electrical engineer supporting projects from estimation through to construction and commissioning.\nDevelopment and compliance with electrical engineering standards\nReview existing quality and commissioning systems / procedures and update in line with project and industry requirements\nSupport the estimation and supply chain teams during the tendering process to identify opportunities for value engineering, innovation and modern methods of construction.\nSupport the preconstruction teams in assuring that the design phase is executed to a high quality and in a timely manner.\nOversight of external design partners to assure the quality of the engineering solutions throughout the project lifecycle\nOn-site support throughout the project lifecycle, e.g. technical submissions, drawing reviews, BIM model development, client reviews.\nOversee quality assurance processes on project testing and commissioning.\nSupport the development of graduate and junior engineers\nSupport the aftercare team in fault-finding and rectifying warranty defects.\nManage the implementation of the DG Gold Standard quality assurance process on projects including auditing of installations and subcontractor performance, including:\nAssist with development of project specific quality plans.\nWork in conjunction with the company’s senior authorised person for electrical installations including both LV/HV systems.\nEnsure compliance with our electrical systems management procedures.\nEnsure full compliance with BS7671 latest edition. \nReview design and installation for compliance and safety\nEnsure continuity and compliance with NICEIC requirements to maintain our accreditationSkills: \n\nProcess driven with the ability to work in a structured manner\nGood communication and influencing skills\nGood IT skills\nAble to bring new ideas, innovate and make improvements\nAble to use own initiative with minimal supervision\nAble to handle confidential information\nAble to problem solve through a pragmatic and commercially sound approach\nAttention to detail\nA ‘can do’ attitude\nInterested in learning new skills, further education and career progression\nPossess an excellent grasp of the English and grammarKnowledge /Qualifications: \n\nHNC or Degree in electrical engineering or building services, with electrical bias.\nExperience as an electrician/ supervisor/ manager.\nStrong understanding of electrical systems from a design and construction perspective\nGood knowledge of the current electrical, fire alarm and emergency lighting standards.\nKnowledge of electrical subcontract works - lighting control, fire alarms and PA systems.\nAbility to read drawings and understand technical papers and documents.\nAble to create technical documents, comment on technical drawings and assist in engineering solutions and design.\nKnowledge of ESSOW compliance processes.\n18th Edition IEE wiring regulations certifiedOn Offer:\n\nCompetitive salary\nCar/Travel allowance\n25 days annual lave plus bank holidays\nPrivate health care\nPension scheme\nBonus scheme
