We are working with a market-leading main contractor operating across the data centre and industrial sectors. With a turnover exceeding £1bn and a proven track record of delivering schemes valued between £50m–£250m, they are now seeking an experienced Design Manager to join their team on a flagship industrial logistics development.
The Role
As Design Manager, you will take ownership of design coordination and management throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that design solutions are delivered in line with programme, budget, and quality standards. Responsibilities include:
- Leading design management from pre-construction through to project delivery and handover
- Managing the flow of design information between consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Chairing design team meetings and ensuring timely resolution of design issues
- Ensuring compliance with client requirements, building regulations, and company standards
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and technical submissions for accuracy and buildability
- Supporting value engineering and innovation in design to optimise project outcomes
- Producing reports and updates for senior management and stakeholders
About You
- Proven experience as a Design Manager (or Senior Design Coordinator looking to step up) within industrial, logistics, or large-scale construction projects
- Strong technical knowledge across design disciplines and buildability issues
- Experience working on schemes valued £50m+ is highly desirable
- Excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
- Familiarity with BIM and digital design processes is advantageous
