I am currently recruiting for a Design Technician to join a key client of mine operating in the specialist engineering and advanced manufacturing sector.

My client is a well-established UK manufacturer of high-integrity polymer-based systems, serving a range of technically demanding industries across the UK, Europe, and global OEM markets. With a modern manufacturing facility based near Southampton, they combine cutting-edge production capabilities with a collaborative, people-focused culture rooted in long-standing family business values.

As the business continues to grow in response to rising demand for innovative, sustainable engineered solutions, they are looking to strengthen their Design Department with the addition of a skilled Design Technician.

Reporting into the Engineering and BIM team, the Design Technician will be responsible for producing detailed manufacturing drawings, 3D models, and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor, while supporting the transition of design information into BIM environments through Revit and Navisworks.

Working closely with the BIM Manager and Project Engineers, you’ll play a key role in transforming project and client requirements into accurate, manufacturable designs, gaining exposure to collaborative BIM workflows used across major data centre projects.

This position is ideal for someone with a background in mechanical design who wants to apply their technical skills in a practical, engineering-led manufacturing environment, while developing BIM expertise over time.

Key Responsibilities:

Produce 3D models, fabrication details, and manufacturing drawings in Autodesk Inventor.
• Create assemblies and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for polymer pipe systems and components.
• Ensure all drawings meet internal company standards and are production ready.
• Support the BIM Manager with Revit updates, coordination, and integration.
• Prepare general arrangement drawings and layouts.
• Interpret client drawings, 3D models, and specifications.
• Collaborate with engineers and workshop teams to resolve design issues.
• Maintain accurate drawing registers and manage revision control. Essential Skills:

Experience in Autodesk Inventor (3D solid modelling) is essential.
Experience producing fabrication or manufacturing drawings for real world production. Beneficial Skills:

Open to developing skills in Revit and BIM coordination as part of the role. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to complex engineering projects within a company that values innovation, quality, and teamwork. If you meet the requirements and are ready to join a growing business in a varied and rewarding role, please apply with your up-to-date CV.
