Job Title: Diagnostic Technician – Server Hardware & Troubleshooting

Pay Rate: $22/hour 
Duration: Temp to hire
Location: Florence, KY

Shifts:
401 - 6a-6p. Sunday through Tuesday, every other Wednesday.
402 – 6p-6a. Sunday through Tuesday, every other Wednesday.  - 15% Differential 
403 – 6a-6p. Thursday through Saturday, every other Wednesday.
404 – 6p-6a. Thursday through Saturday, every other Wednesday. - 15% Differential

 

Position Summary 
Kelly Engineering is seeking skilled Diagnostic Technicians to join our client’s manufacturing and test operations team. This is not a traditional IT support role. We are looking for a hands-on hardware troubleshooter with a strong understanding of server architecture, component-level diagnostics, and hardware repair. 
The ideal candidate will have experience diagnosing and repairing server hardware, identifying root causes of failures, and performing detailed troubleshooting on complex computer systems in a manufacturing environment. 
Key Responsibilities 
Hardware Diagnostics & Troubleshooting 
Diagnose, isolate, and repair hardware failures on enterprise server systems. 
Perform component-level troubleshooting on: 
CPUs 
Memory (DDR4, DDR5) 
PCIe cards and devices 
Storage devices (M.2, SATA, SSD, HDD, NVMe) 
Motherboards and system components 
Identify compatibility and performance issues involving PCIe devices and . 
Execute diagnostic testing and failure analysis to determine root cause. 
Server Hardware Repair & Testing 
Install, remove, replace, and validate server components. 
Perform functional testing and verification of repaired systems. 
Work directly inside server chassis and rack-mounted systems. 
Support manufacturing, testing, and repair processes. 
Networking & System Validation 
Troubleshoot server connectivity issues. 
Utilize knowledge of: 
IP addressing 
MAC addressing 
Network switches 
Server network communication 
Verify system functionality following repair activities. 
Technical Documentation 
Document troubleshooting findings, repair actions, and test results. 
Escalate complex technical issues as needed. 
Maintain accurate repair and diagnostic records. 
Required Qualifications 
High School Diploma or GED required. 
2+ years of hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience. 
Experience working directly with server hardware or similar computer systems. 
Strong understanding of computer hardware architecture and diagnostics. 
Ability to identify and replace failed hardware components. 
Experience using diagnostic tools and troubleshooting methodologies. 
Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 
Qualifications 
Experience supporting enterprise servers in a: 
Data Center 
Manufacturing Test Environment 
Server Repair Center 
OEM Server Assembly or Repair Operation 
Familiarity with communication protocols: 
I2C 
SPI 
Understanding of server architecture and component interaction. 
Associate degree or technical training in Computer Engineering, Electronics, Information Technology, or a related field.

Ability to lift and move servers and equipment weighing 25+ pounds. 
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift. 
Comfortable working on a manufacturing floor in a production environment. 
Must be able to wear required PPE and follow all safety procedures. 
What We're Looking For 
This position is best suited for someone who enjoys solving hardware problems, understands how server components interact, and can troubleshoot failures down to the component level. Successful candidates are hands-on, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working directly with server hardware in a manufacturing environment.
