The Role
This role is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal part in one of the UK’s most significant healthcare infrastructure programmes. As Digital Design & Integration Lead, you will ensure that digital innovation, sustainability, and clinical functionality are embedded within hospital design and delivery.

Acting as a guardian of digital design principles, you will support and challenge design and delivery teams to align with standards, net-zero goals, and best practices in healthcare design. You will also act as a bridge between local Trusts, delivery partners, and central governance, ensuring designs are digitally enabled, sustainable, and future-proof.

Key Responsibilities

Provide digital design leadership across a portfolio of healthcare projects, ensuring compliance with digital, sustainability, and clinical standards.

Influence early-stage design decisions to integrate digital and carbon-conscious requirements.

*

Support NHS Trusts and partners in applying digital reference designs, systems integration, and net-zero design principles.

*

Carry out quality assurance checks within Trust engagement and design approval processes.

*

Identify risks, gaps, or integration challenges and escalate as required.

*

Advise on emerging technologies (AI, IoT, digital twins) that enhance decarbonisation and assurance.

*

Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to embed holistic design principles that support energy efficiency and clinical workflows.

*

Contribute to digital playbooks, toolkits, and frameworks underpinning sustainable healthcare design.

*

Act as a digital ambassador, engaging senior stakeholders to drive digital-first and low-carbon thinking.

About You

*

Proven experience in digital design, architecture, or systems integration on large-scale capital build programmes.

*

Strong understanding of how digital, data, and technology integrate with spatial and clinical design.

*

Experienced in working across RIBA stages and business case development.

*

Skilled at coaching multi-disciplinary teams and translating technical standards into practical design.

*

Familiar with common data environments, BIM, information management standards, and NHS digital infrastructure.

*

Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at senior levels.

Desirable

*

Experience working on NHS capital builds, hospital design, or healthcare infrastructure.

*

Knowledge of digital assurance frameworks, product-based design, and digital twin readiness.

*

Familiarity with hospital commissioning and healthcare master planning.
