Job Description
The Director of Facilities is responsible for leading the operational readiness and maintenance of all Electrical Equipment facilities as well as onsite facilities staff ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable physical plants for all operational activities. The Director of Facilities partners closely with Manufacturing, Human Resources, Safety, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operational Excellence to ensure facilities are operationally ready and maintained to meet business demands. This role provides leadership to facilities staff and support teams and ensures alignment with company objectives and The MCG Way.
Accountabilities:
Facilities and Maintenance Leadership
- Lead the overall facilities strategy across all manufacturing and support locations, ensuring alignment with business growth objectives.
- Oversee facility start-up, commissioning, and readiness for new sites, expansions, and reconfigurations.
- Ensure all facilities are fully operational to support manufacturing, engineering, and business functions.
- Partner with Manufacturing Strategy to implement standards for facility design, layout, and infrastructure to drive consistency and scalability across locations.
- Partner with Manufacturing and Operational Excellence to drive long-term capacity planning in coordination with Operations and Manufacturing Planning.
Facility Readiness & Lifecycle Management
- Ensure all facilities meet operational readiness requirements including utilities, equipment infrastructure, and support systems.
- Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs for all buildings, utilities, and critical infrastructure.
- Ensure rapid response and resolution of facility-related issues that could impact operations.
- Partner with Manufacturing Strategy and Manufacturing Operations Leadership on capital planning and execution for facility upgrades, expansions, and infrastructure investments.
Safety, Compliance & Environmental Stewardship
- Champion a strong safety culture within all facilities, ensuring safe working environments across all locations.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations including OSHA, environmental, and building codes.
- Partner with Safety and Environmental leadership on audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Ensure facilities support safe workflows, proper material handling, and ergonomic standards.
- Partner with Safety on emergency preparedness and business continuity plans for all sites.
Continuous Improvement & Standardization
- Drive standardization of facility systems, processes, and maintenance practices across all locations.
- Partner with Operational Excellence on continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, energy efficiency, and reliability.
- Implement best practices in facility management, including digital tools, CMMS systems, and data-driven maintenance strategies.
Team Leadership & Development
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing facilities team across multiple sites.
- Establish clear roles, expectations, and accountability for facility managers and maintenance teams.
- Foster a culture of ownership, responsiveness, and continuous improvement within the facilities organization.
- Partner with Human Resources to recruit, develop, and retain top talent in facilities and maintenance roles.
- Provide coaching and leadership development to strengthen bench strength across all locations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with EECOE support functions to facilities provide operational performance.
- Support Operational Excellence initiatives and improvement efforts.
- Coordinate with Finance on capital planning, budgeting, and cost management for all facility-related activities.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive facilities or related experience with increasing leadership responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead supervisors and develop high-performing teams.
- Experience with facilities planning, resource allocation, and daily operational execution.
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles preferred.

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop supervisors and production teams.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across functions including Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Operational Excellence.
- Ability to drive accountability and maintain operational discipline across plant teams.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Supervisory Requirements
- Provides leadership and direction to facilities personnel.
- Responsible for hiring, coaching, performance management, and development of facilities employees.
- Establishes clear priorities, expectations, and accountability for facilities teams.
- Develops supervisors and team leaders to strengthen leadership capability and support future growth.
- Fosters a safe, collaborative, and engaged work environment that supports employee development and retention.
- Partners with Human Resources on recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and retention initiatives.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- FLSA executive and professional positions paid on a salary basis, where project requirements and tight client deadlines may require workweeks over forty (40) hours (including weekends or holidays)
- This role will work in an office setting, however, frequent visits to the production floor are required to oversee operations, ensure compliance and safety standards, and engage staff.
- Mobility: Ability to move around the manufacturing plant, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs.
- Manual Dexterity: Occasional use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Lifting: Ability to lift and carry items up to twenty-five (25) pounds. All lifting should be done following OSHA standards.
- Visual and Auditory Requirements: Must be able to see and hear well enough to navigate the plant safely and communicate effectively with team members.
