Position Summary
\n
A growing Commissioning Team is seeking a Director of Mission Critical Commissioning to build and lead an expanding data center commissioning practice. This role oversees a team of mission critical commissioning professionals, manages Level 1 through Level 5 data center commissioning execution, develops electrical and mechanical testing standards, supports proposal development and pricing, and leads client development efforts within the mission critical market.

The Director is responsible for the overall performance of the mission critical commissioning practice, including building and developing the team, growing project backlog, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. This role establishes technical standards and testing procedures, serves as the primary technical authority for commissioning personnel, and helps build the organization's presence in the mission critical commissioning market.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep technical expertise, business development experience, a willingness to travel, and the ability to lead a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

Operations

- Oversee all operational aspects of the mission critical commissioning practice through direct leadership of commissioning personnel.
- Ensure projects are executed in accordance with established quality standards.
- Support leadership in identifying and securing opportunities aligned with the mission critical commissioning strategy.
- Promote communication and collaboration across the commissioning team to ensure consistency in project execution.
- Assess staffing and resource requirements in collaboration with executive leadership.
- Implement process improvements to enhance project delivery and client experience.
- Develop and implement technical tools, standards, procedures, and best practices for the commissioning practice.

- Develop annual budgets for the mission critical commissioning practice in collaboration with executive leadership.
- Monitor revenue, margins, and profitability while conducting regular budget reviews.
- Evaluate financial performance, adjust operational strategies as needed, and prepare reports and presentations on practice performance.

- Lead employee relations, staffing decisions, performance management, and personnel development for the mission critical commissioning team.

- Maintain a strong presence within the mission critical commissioning industry.

- Partner with marketing and business development teams to prepare proposals and establish competitive structures.

Required Qualifications
\n

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline required. Equivalent leadership and management experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience, including at least five (5) years in leadership or management roles involving personnel management, project management, program leadership, or strategic planning.
- Demonstrated success building high-performing teams and improving client satisfaction.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain long-term client relationships.
- Strong track record of delivering measurable business results.
- Active participation in professional networks within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry.
- Demonstrated proficiency in leadership, technical, and business competencies required for the role.

Preferred Qualifications

- Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
- ACG Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA) or equivalent commissioning certification strongly preferred.
- Experience with mission critical commissioning, data center commissioning, or mechanical and electrical commissioning projects.
- Experience developing electrical and mechanical testing procedures and commissioning standards.
- Established relationships with data center owners, operators, general contractors, or mission critical construction firms.
- Business development experience, including proposal preparation, pricing strategies, and client relationship management.
